Nightmaresiege Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Would reformatting help matters? I suppose I could just live with it and see if what I was told about CDM holds true.
El_Capitan Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Windows 7 will automatically disable defragmentation when it sees a disk that reports 0 rpm spindle speed. The default allocation unit size is fine as well. It might not if it's not the OS drive. I remembered having to disable defragmentation once (though it could have been Windows Server 2008), because I had defragmentation on for the OS HDD. Waco Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I was told at the Mushkin forums not to use AMD's AHCI drivers, perhaps that is part of the issue? I avoid AMD AHCI drivers like the plague.
ebarone Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Do you have any Intel computers around that you can drop the drive into as a non-boot drive and see if the performance is the same there as on your AMD based board?

Sadly no, only my AMD desktop and an atom netbook .
ebarone Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I'm guessing the Atom doesnt have an e-sata connector huh. What about friends, or work?
Waco Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sadly no, only my AMD desktop and an atom netbook . I wouldn't mess with it too much. AMD chipsets have been behind Intels for a long time - they still haven't gotten AHCI implemented properly. In reality there's probably no way you'll ever notice the difference in normal use. That SSD makes mine look slow and mine makes my computer feel infinitely faster compared to a HDD.
Praz Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Something's not right. The Crosshair IV Formula can do much better then what you are seeing. My Vertex LE on the same board.

Waco Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Remember thats a different drive... Not horribly different...although those numbers are *very* high for that SSD. EDIT: OP - your other benchmarks look normal. I wouldn't worry about it. Edited September 17, 2010 by Waco
