hi, i just bought a i7 920, motherboard and 6gb of ram off kijiji for $350 :WIN!:

it had the stock cooler which just wouldnt do :P

im looking at possible cooling soluitions:

CoolIT ECO A.L.C. water cooler (66 dollars) only this i really would want to spend that much on

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11140AC5872&vpn=ECO-R&manufacture=COOLIT%20SYSTEMS

Coolermaster V8 (60) seems way to much for me :P

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11130AC9893&vpn=RR-UV8-XBU1-GP&manufacture=COOLERMASTER

Zalman CNPS10X (40) with a fan

Zalman CNPS10X (40)

Silenx IXC-120HA2 (26) like my sunbeam core contact :)

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14210AC4567&vpn=IXC-120HA2&manufacture=SILENX%20CORPORATION

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus (25)

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11130AC8843&vpn=RR-B10-212P-GP&manufacture=COOLERMASTER

for kicks : OCZ Vendetta 2 (20) no i7 support lol

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=13220AC8216&vpn=OCZTVEND2&manufacture=OCZ

i have artic silver 5 thermal paste and would liek to know if its better then the stuff that comes with the heat sink.

i think ill be switching the fan, like to use dual fans if it helps

fans im looking at

Zalman ZM-F3

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=15210AC0114&vpn=ZM-F3&manufacture=ZALMAN%20TECH

Scythe Slip Stream Kaze Jyuni (smallest dead zone)

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14110AC0944&vpn=SY1225SL12SH&manufacture=SCYTHE

Scythe Ultra Kaze (worried about dead zone)

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14110AC5417&vpn=DFS123812H-3000&manufacture=SCYTHE

Silenx iXtrema Pro Quiet

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=14210AC7773&vpn=IXP-74-14&manufacture=SILENX%20CORPORATION

Silverstone 120MM FM121

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=17670AC7817&vpn=RL-FM121-B&manufacture=Silverstone%20Technology

Silverstone FM122 (32mm, i think the dead zone is a normal size)

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=17670AC0227&vpn=RL-FM122&manufacture=Silverstone%20Technology

if theres a fan or heatsink u think i should use, take a look on directcanada.com and see if its there, as thats where im ordering from because they the cheapest, because i live in ontario and they r in bc, theres no PST, and free shipping on orders over 300

i guess because its for a heatsink/rad, the "Scythe Slip Stream Kaze Jyuni" would be the worst, even though it has up to 110 cfm, and smallest dead zone, it has a low static pressure and wont blow alot of air through the heatsink/rad

case will be the compucase blitz unless the lian k58 with a window comes back in stock

How about a Prolimatech Megahalems or a Thermalright TRUE Black?

Both will give exellent cooling performance if you add a good fan or two.

Or if you really need it cheaper then maybe a Xigmatek Dark Knight or a Xigmatek Balder? Both Xigmateks perform similary, the Balder will be a bit better if you use 2 fans.

I assumed you're from Canada by the links in your post so i used newegg.ca links.

People have had good results with the Corsair H50 water cooled kit in conjunction with a different back plate. Apparently the included Corsair back plate is a little flimsy.

I'd agree with both the NH-D14 or the Megahalems, they are both very good coolers for the high heat generating i7 platform.

PingoPongo has given you the link to Newegg Canada for the Megahalems so here is the NH-D14, yeah it is a little pricey but your processor will thank you by being cool and happy .

I know the NH-D14 is the best there is, just didn't want to scare him away with that big price tag (ofc with it comes the awesome cooling).

NH-D14 is better than the Venoumus...

granted it could be the best, however, my system is cheap at best lol

110 is way to much for me, if i spend 40 on a heatsink, that leaves 70, for about anything, better powersupply, go toawrds more ram, fans, etc
