brad257 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Hey Guys, I have been told that when you water cool a 4870 that the fan needs to stay connected or the card won't. I take it there is a way round this if its true can someone help me out. Thanks Brad

My 4870 works fine as I am using custom Air cooling without the reference cooler fan attached.
Drdeath Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) I may be missing something here but you need to remove the fan when you install waterblock. The fan does not need to be connected. Edited April 26, 2010 by Drdeath
brad257 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I bought a second card from ebay and it had a water block attached, the original heatsink was removed but the fan on its own was still plugged in. The gy said it had something to do with the fact that the card doesn't run without the fan plugged in. I just want to check this, i havent had a chance to test it yet as i have RMAed my ram and im waiting for them to send out the new stuff.
