Why is my voltage less than it should be?

Recommended Posts

Ok Athlon II x4 620 @2.6Ghz on an Asus M4A785-M, 650W PSU with stable power.

Everywhere i look it says my voltage should be 1.4 at stock. It is at 1.275 at its highest stock. usually 1.264 and less. I overclocked it to 3.0Ghz, and 3.250 even worked out when set to 1.3v. But due to temps and being on the safe side i put everything on auto and left it at 3.0Ghz on stock voltage. Everything is stable and temps are 32-54C. Am i harming or starving my cpu of the power it should be getting? Even if its the Deneb core everywhere says the voltage should be 1.5. But as i said voltage is on auto, everything running fine, My ram did need 2.1V and even my HT link is @ 2320 runs perfectly fine. It seems to me if i ramp up the voltage my temps get into the 60's and my comp shuts down. Yes im on the stock HSF but im not concerned with extreme overclocking on this machine, 3.0 is fine and temps are fine, im just so confused with the voltage "auto" is giving it. Also 45-47C is the max temp during games and real world computing. why dont reviews cover this sort of thing? and why am i getting a safe OC with such less voltage than everyone else?

maybe u don't a hungry cpu ?

add "have" in there.

but maybe thats the answer, its just i spent a month of general research before i got it and once i got it and started playing with it more questions arose. and every time i find an answer i come up with another question, and this subject has gotten frustrating. It does have the L3 cache so it has to be a deneb core. i forgot to mention that or word my post correctly originally.

just as long as im not harming it with the lesser voltage.

Is it maybe AMD Cool n' Quiet?

Amd cool n quiet does in fact lower the clock and voltage, thats what its for, but when the clock is running at full speed crunching data the voltage maxes at 1.264 - 1.275, as compared to everywhere suggesting 1.4v. For a CPU that seems like a big difference to me. Yet everything is stable and nothing ever freezes. To my surprise Internet Explorer even works right on Win 7!! Very rare from my perspective.
