TheLump Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I overclocked my intel i7 920 to 2.9ghz but windows says its at 2.67ghz, but CPUZ says its at 2.9ghz and so does the bios. Do you guys know whats going on? This is my first time overclocking an i7. System specs are: CPU: i7 920 motherboard: ASUS p6x58d premium LGA 1366 intel x58 heatsink: noctua nhd14 PSU: 750 watt corsair
Danzer Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I have the same problem. I overclocked my Core 2 Duo E8500 from 3.16GHz to 3.8Ghz. It recognized it, no problem. But then I OCed it some more to 4.0GHz and it does not recognize it. CPUZ recognizes it however. I just disregarded it. Whatever, as long as CPUZ says its at 4.0GHz, I'm happy. cirro Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I'd trust CPUz over windows reporting tool. Normally with windows it will display to stock properties, not always the modified values. my windows says "intel core2quad cpu q6600 2.4ghz @ 3.8Ghz"
Deman Risu Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) My Phenom II 550 still shows at 3.1GHz even though it's at 3.4GHz. Don't worry about it. CPUz and Speccy show it as 3415MHz Edited January 25, 2010 by Deman Risu
