Need help on OC

Hi guys, Im pretty new to this so please be gentle.

So here's the story..Ive overclocked my Phenom II x3 720be on a ECS A-780GM-A mobo to 3.4Ghz by simply Adjusting Multiplier and voltage in AMD CPU Function on BIOS. My current Voltage is at 1.475v which i think is high, but lower than that i instantly crash on prime. So, with the current multiplier at x17 and cpu vid of 1.475v prime would crash after 2hrs of small fft's.

I have C&Q disabled, HT Frequency is at auto (2000mhz i guess) and NB Fid is on x10 2000mhz. I have screen shots to show the very limited options that i know which i can tweak for overclocking

Do i need to change the CPU freq and still have my multiplier at x17?

Here are some other screenshots which might be able to give some ideas.

I always set my HT frequency to auto, should i change it?

The settings on this one is default which of course i dont use. its just to show what options i have to play around with

As you can see i dont have any options to bump the NBVid but can be done via AMD overdrive. from what i recall its at 1.5v ...should i bump that up as well to achieve a stable system?

A better mobo should give you more options and room for overclocking. Though yes NB Freq should go up as it helps stability. I wouldn't push more than 2600Mhz. Voltage also shouldn't be more than 1.35. For Black Edition AMDs you don't need FSB. I think it's only good for getting DRAM:FSB ratio lower which could be good but thats advanced stuff that I haven't tried out yet. As for the CPU voltage, 1.55 should be good too but don't go there unless you need to. The best thing to do is check your CPUs specs in the AMD website and it will tell you the max temp and voltage it can sustain. Take note that you shouldn't overclock with stock Cooler. Okay? I mean, I don't know what your whole set up is so I'm not sure what if any cooler you have. I just wanna warn you.

Well I cant afford to buy a new mobo at the moment so im stuck with this. my cooler is a CM Hyper 212+ which in my opinion really doing a great job cooling my chip. Thanks for the info and i will check out the AMD website for more info..cheers

theres not much more you can get out that 720, 3.7 if the max i seen but then i could be wrong.

Well my target hopefully is 3.4 which im sure is very doable on this chip. just need it to be stable at those speeds
