Silky Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 I am using the same in my XP1700+ with 1.6v default. It is clocked to 2.18 ghz requiring 1.8 vcore. The Kamakaze keeps it to 41 C idle and 52 C load on the NF7 board. I just ordered two Chill Vents. One will be found in this machine. Will come back to post any difference. FanATIc205 Posted January 24, 2004 Posted January 24, 2004 is the fan sucking air up thru the heatsink or blowing down? also it seems that a rev b will be out next month and in the pics ive seen of it the fan comes sucking air up thru the h/s instead of blowing down
d3bruts1d Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 That kinda reminds me of Swiftech's heatsinks.
Silky Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 (edited) The one I am using is blowing into the heatsink. It does not run as high as the review said, it peaks around 3400 rpm (it might have been a typo). The fact is that its quiet and with the same fan speed it beats SLK800 by 2C. It's much "taller" than SLK800. I bought it thinking it could be used in both AMD and Intel. It's REALLY bad in P4 installation. I broke the retention came with it. It is definitely not Swiftech which has much better base finish, and after a nice lapped job it falls behind Swiftech MCX478-V by around 3C in my configuration. FanATIc205 Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 try it sucking air up my temps droped alot, but there is also that bent row of pins that are pushed together so tightly not much air can enter or escape that side. it looks like a exact replica of a old alpha pal heatsink i have
