JifDaKiwi Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Im looking to throw some case fans at my machine, right now Im not running any, so theres some obvious room for improvement. I made up my master plan in Paint, because both MSPaint, and myself are awesome :-) Basically, any recommendations on 12cm and 8cm fans are appreciated, good noise / cfm ratio, any recommendations of what to make my awesome ducting out of (right now Im thinking cereal boxes, so anything smarter considered), and any opinions welcome - the grand scheme is to make my ASUS cooler more efficient, as my E5200 runs at around 60c full load at 3.66Ghz. xchrissypoox Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 12cm: scythe gentletyphoons 1850, can't even hear em good airflow (65cfm)
The Smith Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 You don't need a ducting. Instead, put a fan on the front, a fan at the back, and the airflow will be made automatically. If you're looking at a CrossfireX configuration, you could cut a vent in your side panel and install a 120mm blowing directly on your graphics cards. I did have an 8cm fan on the back exhausting, and it actually raised the cpu temps by about 2-3c - Im thinking that it may not have been able to exhaust as fast as the cpu cooler, creating some kind of turbulence? Who knows... My air-physics isn't as good as it used to be :-) Maybe 2 x 8cm at the front and 1 decent 8cm at the back? Any recommended models? Running a GA-EP45-UD3LR - no crossfire for me, but Im cool with that :-)

hardnrg Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Case Fans. I bet most people viewing this topic thought CF meant CrossFire, as CF is a common abbreviation for CrossFire... Somehow I have my doubts about ANYone thinking CF means "case fans" For the 120mm, pretty much any 38mm thick fan would do, just depends how much noise you are prepared to have... 80mm, I prefer Panaflo "M" for decent airflow while not loud... actually I prefer the 120mm "M" fans too

Yeah good point - thread title updated :-) Any ideas on online shops that will ship to New Zealand? Im finding the selection at enthusiast shops and local e-tailers fairly useless... JifDaKiwi Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Australian section in the Modding & Computer Stores List? Yeah oddly enough, Ive found the majority of them won't ship to NZ. Which is weird, because we're just over there. Oh well, found FrozenCPU.com, looks like thats me. Cheers team :-)
