battery Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 there is no evidence to support that lower temps increase life expectancy at all. what it does do is increase stability. silicon contracts, tightening the pathways and preventing voltage leakage. voltage is what lowers life expectancy, but most hardware is designed to last anywhere from 10-20 years. Thermal cycling is the worst thing you can do to any electronic part. If you maintain it at 60 degrees C for its entire life it'll last just as long as if it ran 30 C its entire life.
