hogtrader Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I have an A7N8X, AMD Barton 2500+ (unlocked) and 512 PC3200 RAM. I am stuck at 180 MHz FSB and multiplier of 12.5x. If I go above that I get unstable and can't run. I saw others claim that they have exceeded 200 MHz and are rock-solid. Please tell me your setup secrets. Please post the BIOS settings for CPU, memory and voltages (and anything else I overlooked). Thanks for your help. Hogtrader
alangsam Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Set your multiplier back to 11 and set the fsb to 200 you can most likly keep vcore 1.65 unless it gets unstable then go to 1.7v. Once this is stable you can then creep up in increments of 1mhz on the fsb until it gets unstable. Make sure you watch he heat. Get Speedfan for more accuracy you can use asus probe as well but its a little off. Try and keep the CPU temp at or below 50C at full load. EternityEight Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 ive got mine running at 200*11 ...yeah i could probably push it a bit further, but thats equivilent to 3200+ .. which is enough power to do anything i want.... and its good for cpu life
hogtrader Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Well Guys, My system won't start WinXP at 200*11 and 1.7Vcore. It goes directly back to POST. Do I need to do something with memory? Hog
Paranoid Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Try the multiplier @ 10.5, and see if it loads into windows. Also try increasing the voltage to 1.75V
hogtrader Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 It appears to be my memory. I am able to run the processor at 11*200 stable if I lower the RAM clock to 166 MHz (83% of 200). I called Kingston and they think I may have an incompatible chipset on the DDR stick. I'm using KVR400X64C25/512. I have to contact them tomorrow (weekdays) and discuss options. One option is to exchange the stick for a different chipset. I'll keep you all in the loop. Thanks. Hog
Guest FxXP Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Also slack off the RAM timings to see if that helps. I noticed that you are running the ValueRAM and not the HyperX.
