a93j202k Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Is the Accelero S1 Rev.2 compatible with the new Sapphire 4850's with dual slot cooler? I know that the Accelero was compatible with the old, red single slot 4850's, but they came out with a newer version of the card. Does anyone have any pics, if they happen to have this particular card and cooler?
jammin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 You'll have to excuse the slightly crappy picture, but the answer is yes, it does fit just fine.
malmsteenisgod Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 When did they S1 ever fit the 4850's? When they had the S1 rev 2. on Newegg I only remember a ton of complaints that the ram sinks didn't fit right. Now Newegg doesn't even carry it anymore. jammin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 No RAM sinks installed here. Not covered by the original cooler either, so figured it couldn't hurt.
CheeseMan42 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I've got the Accelero Twin Turbo on a 4850 if you'd like to see that.
SpeedEuphoria Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) There is 1 ramsink that doesnt fit correctly. When you google S1 rev2 4850 you will see a couple how to's that show this. You can cut 1 of the sinks at an angle or like I did was use an old zalman ramsink on the 1 memory chip. Newegg sure does carry the S1 rev2 Here's mine on my non reference Asus 4850 Edited February 17, 2009 by SpeedEuphoria
a93j202k Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Damn. Waiting for the cooler to get back in stock =[ @jammin Is it true that the GPU on the newer models is further back on the PCB? Because I'm getting an Antec 300, and it's a pretty small case. Wouldn't want to buy the cooler to find out that the drive bays get in the way. :|
jammin Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Yes, the GPU on the Sapphire dual-slot is further back than on the reference design: So it might be a bit of a squeeze with the S1 if your drive bays are close by. My Antec SOLO is relatively compact and it still fits (though might be tight if all the HDD spaces were filled):
