xPETEZx Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I am running an E6850 on an Asus P5Q-E board cooled by a TRUE Black. The case has a mesh side panel, and there is a 120mm Antec Tri-Cool on the TRUE, and then another 120mm Antec fan on the case right behind it. (Sorta in push-pull) At the moment my room is rather cooled, and the temps I am getting are terrible. At stock everything (1.28v core under load, 1.32 idle) under OCCT load I hit temps 56-58 degrees C. What's up with that??? I have re-applied Arctic Silver 5 a few times, and let it set etc, but no difference. I tried to OC the chip, and it just dosent go anywhere, cause although it seems stable @ 3.6, it gets so hot so quick. Hangs around the 67 Degrees Range under load, not really happy with that. Is there something I am missing? Or do I just have a bad chip?
The Smith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is your TRUE lapped? If not, this could help a lot. The TRUE is known to have a small curvature on its base. At the same time, you could also lap your CPU!
