alexfort93 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I read the guide up top, need more in depth though. Anyone have a guide for when putting the water in the system and such? I have my parts picked out (I think I am only going to cool the CPU and maybe the GPU later on...) MCP655 pump D-Tek Fuzion V2 block MCR320 triple rad (either going to to find a heater core from a car, or just buy one. Now do I really need triple for just a CPU and 1 GPU?) 15ft. of tubing (best type? Looking at masterkleer clear PVC tubing, also should be enough right?) T-line What should I get for clamps and other stuff that I forgot to mention? Also 3/8" vs. 1/2"... What's the best?

exeter_acres Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 That's a little outdated, what do I do if I don't want to use a res? outdated how?? the water system is about the same... just different components.... if no res, then use a "T" line... but that is a royal PITA....... use 1/2" id tubing with a thick wall... I use Tygon.... thicker wall is nice so it won't kink... and then I just use the worm drive pipe clamps to hold things on..... r3d c0m3t Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) Whoops...I misunderstood the question... T-Lines require a ton of patience, being that there's no proper bleeding port and you'll most likely need a fillport. -_- Edited August 24, 2008 by r3d c0m3t
alexfort93 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Alright, can I just make a res like the one that was made here? http://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/pvc_pipe_reservoir/
SebringTech Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I haven't personally made the move to water cooling yet, but I don't see why you couldn't go the DIY route for the res. It would allow you to choose how big or small you would prefer it to be. I would presume there would be some sort of paint that would adhere to the PVC to make it look a little better if it will be in site and if you care how your case looks. I can't say for sure as I have only tried to paint PVC once, quite some time ago for a paintball gun silencer. At the time I was able to clean->plastic primer->thin multiple coats of paint. (actually I use and have been using for a few years, that exact res in the guide.... I wrote it ) cheap and works perfectly.... I go for function over bling
alexfort93 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) No how do I know how much water I need? Just fill it to the top and your done? Not sure this is the same for everyone else who looks at that page, but the (") symbol and the cent symbol have a question mark instead... Great_Gig Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 No how do I know how much water I need? Just fill it to the top and your done? In theory yes, but don't top right up leave about 1cm or so. Just like a car water cooling system, there will be slight expansion under load, but not as significant.
