Inu_Yasha Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 Does anyone know how to change the drive letter of a drive without moving the drive? I know you can do it in win2k, but i forgot how to do it... I think you have to do something under administrative tools. I'm just about to install my new mobo and stuff so i need to know how to change the drive letters to suit everything i need. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
d3bruts1d Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 It's under disk management... Though, I don't think you can change the drive letter...
Bosco Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 Yeah you can change it in disk management, but I'm not sure if you would want to change your main drive letter because it will more than likely screw a lot of program up that are already installed. I have never attempted to change my main drive letter, but I have changed the drive letters of my other hard drives, without any problems. EDIT: For those who want to know how to do this in XP Pro & I think Win2k Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Managment Under Storage click on Disk Managment. OR you can do it the easy way and type "diskmgmt.msc" in Start -> Run prompt, without the quotes. Once your in Disk Managment, just right click the drive you want to change the letter of, then choose Change drive letter or paths (I think) then click the change button. You should be able to figure it out from there
