x1andy Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I want to replace a stock AMD 64x2 Dual-core heatsink with either a Tt blue, red, golden orb or something else that is low profile and good cooling. My main concern is that the cpu slot and Ram slots are so close together that with a 120mmx120mm dimension heatsink/fan might cover up the first memory slot on the MB (mAtx) and there are only 2 ram slots. The ram is pretty standard with no fancy heatspreaders. Does anyone know if the Tt heatsinks will block the complete usage of the memory slot? or just cover over it? Here are links from newegg.com. Any info would be awesome. Mobo: Gigabyte GM-M78SM-S2H Ram: Gskill 4Gb (2x2Gb)
dr_bowtie Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835106069 if that is what you are talking about I am sure when I say it aint going to fit.... if you have the room a Thermalright XP-120 might be a better option...cool the ram at the same time...although it might not fit in a case like the Ultra Micro-fly without modding...lol
x1andy Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Yea i want to fit all that in a SFF Case... either MicroFly or Q-pack. I would like to mod the case if that means I can get a taller heatsink hehe, but yea the Tt blue orb II is what i was looking at or smaller. The problem is the whole heatsink dimension is 140mm long and will really cover both ram slots.
xly15 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 (edited) Mod the case and get the Thermalright XP-120. Totally worth it in the end. Xly15 Edited July 20, 2008 by xly15
