Trekasaur Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 For some reason I can't install the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. I am trying to install them from the cd. The installation starts and I get a message that says "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!!", which is not a lot of help. I have downloaded the driver from the dfi website and get the same result. I tried installing in Safe Mode, same thing. Help!!! MACarter02 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Did you try unpacking the drivers to a folder and then pointing windows device manager to that folder?
Sharp Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Hello OldFilmFan. Pick the right one for your OS. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...3&GetDown=false And see what happens.
Trekasaur Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Sharp, I will download the new driver. The version on the cd and at the DFI site was 1.65. The download is going very slow. I will let you know if the new driver works.
Trekasaur Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I have downloaded the new driver version 1.86 and it won't install. This time I did get an error message that said "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure!![Errpr Code: -0001]" I tried googling, but not much help. Sharp Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Is this a clean windows installation done on the BloodIron or something from an older PC? I assume that is it a clean install due to the RAID 0 array. Clear the CMOS and see what happens, and what OS are you using? Is the Audio detected in device manager (with a yellow exclamation mark?) Enabled in the BIOS?
Praz Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 This thread might help. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=911620
Trekasaur Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. I have a new install of Win XP Pro wSP2. I reinstalled the Realtek drivers and it installed okay. The problem is now, when I try to play a cd, Media Player says there is no sound device. When I open up Realtek sound manager and use it, it will play sounds and music. In Device Manager there are no yellow warnings. I can't believe how difficult this is to get my sound working:eek:

Trekasaur Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 In Device Manager>Sound, Video, Game Controllers, Realtek High Definition Audio is there. The Realtek sound manager icon is in the system tray and I can use it to test my speakers. Sound does come out then. However in Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices it says there is no sound device. Right now I think the problem might be with Windows. Sharp Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Did you install over the previous windows installation/try to repair it or install with a quick format? And are you using an actual XP CD or using a backup/restore image?
Trekasaur Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 It was a brand new install with an actual Win XP Pro cd. I used a standard format, not a quick format.
