fariss Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I built a computer for my doctor & he installed Vista on it. He likes it. However, he wasn't aware of Microsoft licensing & he installed it on his laptop too. Of course MS caught the illegal install & now he wants to rollback to XP. Am I correct in assuming that Vista cannot be uninstalled or rolled back?
Gipse Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I don´t think that you can just run a roll-back... Delete it from the laptop (save data first), that should be enough. He might have to explain it while activating Vista on his first machine via phone. Gipse
radodrill Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 No downgrade through the OS. Only viable option is to reformat.

Like I said he was unaware of the licensing so he tried to activate it. When it failed he phoned MS. He got an earful.
fariss Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 No downgrade through the OS. Only viable option is to reformat. This is pretty much what I thought. In the past you could rollback if you didn't like the upgrade. MS has another strike against them.
Gipse Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 So he installed Vista as an upgrade? Then it should work as descibed by radodrill, I have "only" full Vista Business here to test... Gipse
