My computer recently started having problems booting. The problems i am having are consistant with a failing power supply. I'll post a link to my help thread for reference. Please try to read it and see if a power supply makes sense. Please post any opinions regarding that thread here so as not to bump an old thread.

Moving forward, i have selected three power supplies from newegg that i could afford.

ENERMAX Whisper II EG565P-VE FMA(24P)

FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-A

HIPER HPU-4K580-MS ATX12V

I generated this list while looking at the recomended power supplies list and was still confused on what i would need. Please tell me if any of these units would cause problems with my setup, listed below. Or if they are grossly over or under powered. I had been doing mild overclocking prior to the incedent. I personally am leaning more towards the Hiper unit because it looks great and has modular cables. any opinions would welcome.

thank you for your time.

My original thread is dead and has already filled its purpose. it is five days old and has drifted four pages back, a link was included for reference. The purpose of this thread is for advice on the three powers suppiles i am considerening buying not diagnosing the problem. I don't see how this is a double post. please don't ignore this question because of a link to previous information.

Bumping the old thread wouldn't do much good, it was a different subject and no one would probably bother responding. A double post is two of the same post, this is a different thread with a different topic.

The best PSUs I have experience with are Seasonic based models, so I recommend them. It'll go over the $100 budget you seem to be looking at. A 550-600 seasonic model should do you well. Go for higher if you plan to do SLI, though, with the 5000 watt graphics cards that will soon be coming out if the current trend continues.

If you want to be guaranteed not to have PSU issues again, I'd spend the $150 on a PCP&P Silencer 610. It's quiet, and is very reliable.
