Quazi Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 i believe windows can. but the question remains, do u actually USE 4gb? i doubt it. i got 2gb and i never uses the pagefile. ever. Actually, Windows XP, by default, will access the page file no matter how much memory you have. But having as much as you do, it only accesses the page file as little as it does by default. I often thought the same way, bringing that idea over from Windows 98. But XP is a bit different from 98 in that area. It will access the page file regardless of how much memory you have installed. General Septem Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Specialized applications may need computers with 4 GB of RAM. Take my dad's computer for instance. He needed 4 GB of RAM for a program called Hauptwerk which simulates realistic organ sounds when you hook up a keyboard through a MIDI interface. For normal use I don't see how it's necessary.
