Hello, so I'm getting this printer CANON MP830 and since I'm buying a linksys wrt54g router and pci adapter, I was wanting wireless for the printer too!

So would this adapter work for the printer, that way I can print from the upstairs computer straight to the printer:

or this (range is the only difference that I can see)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16833338016

Thanks,

Mako3

I may be misunderstanding what you are asking. Those adapters you listed are bluetooth wireless, and would plug into your workstation for you to sync up bluetooth things like your pda, cellphone, or bluetooth keyboards and mice.

The usb2.0 connection on your printer is to be plugged into your workstation's usb port, or to a smart wireless device, like this: http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-DP-G310-Wirel...g/dp/B0001NA2S6 . (and I'm not specifically recommending that, just as an example).

Does the above help???

Off-Topic: (per review) Pros: No Pros; this printer with the chiped ink cartridge to prevent the use of 3rd party ink is reason enough to not buy this printer.

http://www.pcworld.com/product/specs/id,28...ters/specs.html states the bluetooth interface is optional (whatever that is).

I have a canon MP500 and a WRT54G router, all you do is connect the printer to your PC and setup a simple network to share your printer with any wireless PC's or laptops you own. thats what I do, no need for any other hardware

Great I already ordered it because it took so long for a reply...

Once again, I may be mis-understanding what you are trying to say  . I don't sit near my computer all day, but did try to help you, and it did take some time to research what you were asking and to determine that you in fact didn't have bluetooth, as it's an option. True it did take over 5 hours for a reply, but it sure was hard to figure out what you were doing with the bluetooth, I'm sure people just read that and stopped cold at that point.
