supra411 Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Hi: I got a little impatient and I've o/c'ed my computer to 210 Mhz FSB (on a 2.4Ghz chip). How do I know if my computer is stable using SisSoft Sandra??? Thx Ricky
Bosco Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 If it doesn't crash you are doing good
supra411 Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 But what feature or benchmark should I use to test it???
Bosco Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 Any of the CPU tests is a good place to start then the memory tests and so on
Eva_Unit_0 Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 You can also run the torture test in Prime95. That answered my stability question very fast once...as soon as it hit start my comp restarted Anyway, if its unstable, you should find out real quick. goregoyle Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) i used sandra to test my system too. use the "burn in" test option. tests every aspect of a computer, sans video card. i went through a loop of 10 times at 100% cpu utilization. MJ0588 Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 when i test cpu stability, i run a few copies of both sandra burn in and Prime95 torture tests
supra411 Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Thanks for the info. Ok, I have raised my FSB speed till 220Mhz, which gives me 2.64Ghz. I ran the "Burn" option, and completed its tests, but the fire animation stop for 2 - 4 seconds eveytime it ran through the CPU benchmark. I have stock everything. What should I do? Continue, go back, or quit there??? Thx Rick
ravix Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 As long as it doesn't freeze indefinately you should be fine. Congrats on the OC!
supra411 Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 I ran Sissoft for 4 hours and folding@home all night last nite w/ the FSB at 220Mhz, but when I wanted to play Rainbow Six, it won't let me into the game! I got to briefing menu, but it wouldn't let me play the game!!! Would this be an overclocking prob? I can play the Halo demo.
