None of those have the 8 pin EPS 12v connector. I used the Hiper unit and it seemed to work ok with a 4-pin to 8 pin adapter. I emailed Hiper tech support and they informed me that by using an adapter you are playing with fire, literaly. here is their response:

Hello,

I recently purchased a DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI Expert motherboard. It has a 24 pin power connector and a 12volt 8 pin EPS power connector. I own the Hiper Type-R power supply( HPU-4S580-MS V1). I am using a 4 pin to 8 pin EPS adapter and all seems to be working properly. I have read on your website that you do not recommend this adapter. Am I risking my hardware by using this powerr supply?

Thank you,

Anthony

Dear Anthony

There are Amp limitation on wires on the cable, exceeding might melt the wire. unless approved, we don't recommend using unqualified adaptors.

As you know 8 pin connector consists of 4 x 12v wire. while 4 pin connector only has 2 x 12v. so the 4 pin end is having double the current where it should operate at and therefore there is risk that current going through the 4 pin end will exceeed the wire limit and go melted. generally, a 18 gauge wire should stand for approximately 6.5A. if more than 6.5 you will feel warm on the wire.

Now Hiper does make a "qualified" adapter but it is not yet available in the US.

Dear Anthony

As we just released the Extender retail package:

Please keep eye on Newegg they will probably the 1st will carry them in US.

Thanks

I did not want to deal with that issue nor did I feel good about waiting for it to be available here in the US. Spending good money on DFI boards and other hardware only to risk it with a inferior power supply simply makes no sense. But hey, it's your PC not mine.:)

Why be confused? Simply choose a power supply with the EPS connector. Besides, the liberty you are looking at is just as expensive if not more than the OCZ 600w, OCZ 700w and both Fortron 600w and 700w.

I thought my Hiper unit was fine, maybe it would have been. I just am saying for me, I wasnt going to gamble that my hardware would not be affected.

According to DFI:

[Expert] p4 (4-pin, +12V) to EPS (8-pin, +12V) Adaptor: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3204

THIS IS NOT DFI RECOMMENDED! Use for testing only!

and Hiper, they both do not recommend adapters. Heck, for the few months I have been here, Davidhammock200, Tasr, Lowboy and countless others have been saying till they are blue in the face to be wise in your power supply choice.

just do yourself a favor, take an ocz gamexstream 600. trust me, the hassel of a bad PSU, is much bigger.

what i said before, is that the board will run with 4pin, ofcourse it will, but its running something not in the way it was intended. if you wanna risk frying it for the extra bucks, have fun

I don't mean to come across as pushy and a "know-it-all". I have been building PC's for ten years. In those ten years , I have come to this conclusion: If you want the best motherboard that will give you the most fun out of overclocking, DFI is the way to go.

That being said, to use the Expert board, you can't have an attitude that they are built and operate like the other manufacturers. You need to do your homework and familiarize yourself with them. More often than not you are going to find that your old parts you have used for a long time will not work with the Expert. Especially the powerr supply. The tech support here is outstanding, they know what they are talking about. I suggest following their advice.:)
