Guest SPQQKY Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I can't seem to get my SATA 3.0 to run at correct speeds on this board. I'm stuck at 150 with my Seagate 3.0 drive. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Spunkmeyer6 Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Check the jumpers on the drive, if I remember correctly my Seagate came set to Sata150. I think they factory set it for compatibilty with some boards.
Guest SPQQKY Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 LOL. That was it. Odd there were three very thin little jumpers on there. Had to remove them all.
Guest Dice Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Yeh the latest seagate drives seem to be set like that. funny jumpers too.
Angry_Games Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 /me is another that found that out after scratching head for a bit (w/Seagate drives)
Guest SPQQKY Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Can't complain about these Seagate drives though. good speed and nice and quiet. Haven't had any issues with them at all. Not much to complain about with the motherboard, either. Things have been a breeze with this board except for one thing....... the board locks up every time I try to enter the PC Health/hardware monitor section of BIOS. I want to set my CPU fan to 100%, but as soon as I enter that area of the BIOS, it locks and I'm forced to reset. Any ideas? This is with the stock BIOS. I updated to the latest, but it locks on me once in a while at random, so I flashed back. I think the board may not like my G.Skill, it did fine on a Intel 955x board, but hasn't been too spectactular on the two AM2 boards I've had. Guest SPQQKY Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Lots of views but no one has a clue why the board locks while in hardware monitor in BIOS?
s e t h Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 same with my AM2 lanparty...just scrolling down towards the stiffy drive type in the bios and it hangs..so both these are probably bios issues. *this posts second purpose is to check if my bloody sig works..soz
Spunkmeyer6 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 This is probably about the only board of my recent 3 that hasn't been plagued by hanging. A Gigabyte and an Asus, moreso the Asus. And believe me I've been in the bios a lot
Angry_Games Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Lots of views but no one has a clue why the board locks while in hardware monitor in BIOS? I've went through the bios a hundred times if I have once and it has never exhibited this symptom at all (one two differet Infinity AM2's at that)
Guest SPQQKY Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I decided to pull the fans connected to the headers one at a time to see if that made any difference. Well, keeping the chipset fan unplugged from the board keeps it from locking. I just connected it directly to the PSU via 3 to 4 pin molex. I should have my new chipset cooler in a day or so anyway. We'll see if it's a faulty sensor on the board or a faulty fan once I hook the new one directly to the board.
Guest Dice Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Oh the hardware monitor can lock if you have a resistor plug limiting a fan speed or possible a fan controller too. I had this problem with my Gigabyte AM2 as well as the DFI. There are 2 solutions: 1. Control the fan with smart guardian instead of the hardware you're using 2. Plug the fan into a converter to molex, but then you lose fan speed monitoring
