red930 Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Here is the link to it: http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios..._FLAG=B&SITE=NA I made the mistake of typing in '06' as the year when it should have been '05'. I have edited my post and yours to show the right info.
slugzkea Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Thanks a hole bunch man, I"ll keep you posted.. So far though, no go...even at those settings, it will freeze after 2 hours of torture testing. I can't reach 260-263 or anything past 245 for that matter....i can get into windows on 260-263fsb but that's with 1.65v lol i'll update the bios, and give it another go!! i'm crossing my fingers on this one :shake: Oh, and yes i have tried ddr320 mode...i didn't try ddr266, mainly because the raim is ment to run at 277mhz, and at ddr320 it was going at 206mhz...it should run just fine that those frequencies so i didn't bother clocking the ram even lower. One more thing, you recommended the 2005/06/27 bios, and i shall try it... But any word on the 2005/09/22 version?
red930 Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I can't promise that the newer BIOS will solve your dilema. What I can relate to you is my personal experience. Using the official BIOS, I was only able to get my Retail 640 up to 3.8Ghz using a pair of Mushkin 2 x 512 PC4400. With the 06/27/05 BIOS, I hit 4Ghz (which was my goal) easily. slugzkea Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 the Bios you recommended worked, I have finally achieved 16x250 1.5v 4ghz clock speed 1.5v was the only voltage that would allow 3dmark03 to run without crashing...going to try prime95 and so forth. if all goes well, gonna aim higher! Thanks a lot u guys for all of your support

slugzkea Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I take it all back, same problem as before..i can't reach 4ghz OC. CPU-Z reads my bios as 251fsb, but i set it to 250FSB in the bios. is that odd?
G2145cal Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 i had one hell of a time to get my 640 to 4 ghz....that all changed when i changed out my enermax 485 watt psu for an ocz 520....i think what did it was the 28 amps on the single 12 volt rail, versus 18 amps on each of the 2 12v rails...went onto testing dual prime for 18 hours with no errors
slugzkea Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Okay this time, i've reache 4ghz stable. 16x249 (1.5125v) in bios, in windows it's at 250. Devider is at 1:1, 2.5-4-4-8 2.8v. I took the motherboard tray out of my casing, so now my comp is completely naked however it has fixed my overheating problems my A/C is blasting right at my gutted PC, thus awsome temps. CPU idle 32-36. Full load goes up to 60. GPU is at 35, full load 46C. (ATI silencer 4 rev 2 w/AS5) Vidcard mem idle's at 34, full load 36. Omega Drivers based on Cat 6.5, texture and midmapping set to HQ. OC'ed to 565/621 1.8VDDQ 3dmark05 = 5892 Not bad..? opinions? red930 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Damn! 60c under load for the CPU is pushing it. I have never had my 640 over 51c using a Thermaltake Tower 112, Coolermaster Aero blower intake and 80mm Vantec Stealth exhaust.
