What 3800+ X2 Stepping To Look For

Recommended Posts

Teh stepping just notates the cache size, production stage, revision, and memory controller. Teh only useful information is the memory controller, and as best as I can tell, it will be a crapshoot for a 3800 X2, all a crapshoot.

At the bottom corner of the chip if you can find one with an "N" instead of a "T" it will use lesser voltage, and that can be better temps on a dual core, but again, doesn't mean anything specifically about clocks or mem controller staiblity/coldbug.

That hardforums link only shows that manchesters with the "BH" Mem controller (all of them but one on that page) are all about the same. It's a crapshoot.

Look for weeks 06xx but not 0607 these seem not to be so good.

Try for LDBFE or LDBHE 06xx ?PMW where ? = S/T/U/X

I have a LDBFE 0609 XPMW which is doing OK about 2.75-2.8 on Air and 3.0+ under the Vapo, still working it but a fun chip to play and a bit easier with the x10 multi.

Also look at some of the Opteron 165's there are some good ones around too just the x9 means MB and Mem must be good too for a high OC ;)
