Guest Lord Sauron

You dont need Fileplanet...

They are all here: http://www.tessource.net/files/

No wait needed

Will post my list of mods this weekend, why I have them on, and links.... Too much going on in the week. Some are LOD texture changes that make the game look a lot better without an FPS hit, Also new UI so its less console like, New sky's, lighting, and an alternative to Fast travel that requires you to explore.

Guest Lord Sauron

OK as promised, here are the mods and tweaks I use:

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul v1.21

The first major issue is that of linearity of challenge. In Oblivion, quests and combat encounters are "leveled" relative to the level of the player's character. This concept, while offering some good gameplay elements (freedom of choice, gentle learning curve, etc.) was implemented too indiscriminately. The sense of accomplishment in improving one's avatar suffers because the world is constantly changing to meet a pre-designed level of challenge. Also, "realism" and "immersion" disappear when the player notices glitches in the continuity of the world (Town guards so high in level that one wonders why they need a "hero" after all; lowly creatures that can suddenly give High-Chancellor Ocato a senseless beating, etc.)

The goal of this mod is to increase the overall challenge of the game, to increase the chances of the unexpected to happen, to reduce the flaws that hurt the "realism-factor" of the "leveled" system, to tweak item rarity and presence in the world, to add some new content and, lastly, to change some of the variables of the game system to balance its gameplay.

The Nexus

This mod is intended for those players who prefer to walk and explore the land instead of using fast travel, but still would like to have some means of traveling faster between the towns you have already visited.

The mod adds a Nexus Stone in each of the eight major cities.

After you have activated a Nexus Stone in any of the cities, you can travel to the Nexus which serves as a gateway to all the other Nexus Stones you have already activated.

You can also store your items in the four storage chests found in the Nexus.

While the Nexus can be useful for traveling, travelers are warned not to fall into the Abyss that surrounds the Nexus

Landscape LOD Replacement

This mod replaces all the distant blurry LOD landscapes with better looking higher resolution textures. This means you don't have to use the uGridsToLoad command, and hence you won't experience any major performance reductions or visual glitches. More details here.

Landscape LOD Replacement (Border Regions)

By the same author as the mod above, this mod fixes all the blurry landscapes from the border regions as well. More details here.

Normal Map LOD Replacement

This mod replaces all the normal maps for distant land - basically it improves the shadows in all distant terrain, and is a great complement to the Landscape LOD Replacement mods further above.

No More Annoying Messages Mod

This simple mod removes the made-for-console periodic 'Loading Area' text message, as well as 'Your Horse is stabled outside the city gate' and 'The Dark Brotherhood is watching you' text prompts, but keeps the important ones

Color map mod

Does what it says...

Quiet feet

Some people experience horrible stuttering when they ride a horse or fight certain enemies. Characters in the game have distinct sound effects that play when each foot hits the ground, which for whatever reason is too much for some older sound cards (and newer onboard sound systems) to handle. Enemies with more feet (e.g. wolves) make grown men weep

Quiet Feet solves this problem by simply removing footfall sound effects from all non-human creatures. Apparently the game uses a different system for humans, so they don't cause the stuttering.

Improve many aspects of the stock Oblivion UI

• Increase the amount of the Inventory, Magic, Container(Looting), Repair and Alchemy Ingredients listings to 12 or higher *

• Increased area to view Local and World Maps

• Increased area to view Quests and Journal

• Increased area to view Skills, Factions and Accomplishments

• Added percentage display to HP/MP/FA display

• Added Durability status under the Weapon Icon on the Main Hud

• Enabled and cleaned up Spell Effect durtation timers

• During Custom Class Creation, increased the size of the enterable name

• Mapped Arrow Keys to various Menu buttons

Oblivion.ini tweaks I use:

More blood

I think the blood disappears way too quickly. Make the following changes to your .ini file:

fDecalLifetime=600.0000 (default 10)

iMaxDecalsPerFrame=50 (default 10)

Sets blood decal lifetime from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, and sets the limit of decals in game from 10 to 50.

Bypassing intro movies

Tired of pressing Esc when launching game? Set the following line to be blank like so:

SIntroSequence=

Reducing HDR exposure

HDR is sweet, but a little overpowering inside. Set the following under [blurShaderHDRInterior] only:

fBlurRadius=6.0000 (default 7.0000)

fBrightScale=1.7500 (default 2.2500)

Cut the Grass

Grass is swank, but it's also a huge performance drain. Reduce its frequency a big performance boost with little change in visuals:

MinGrassSize=130 (default 80)

fGrassEndDistance=8000.0000 (default 3000)

fGrassStartFadeDistance=7000.0000 (default 2000)

If you have a medium to high end machine, knock the distance values up to 10000 and 8000 respectively. For lower end machines, try a value of 150 or 200 for the minimum grass size.

Thats it for now. I have some more I'm trying out.. a companion that follows you around, and better horse controls.. I'll update as soon as I have a verdict on em. Enjoy
