Freedr Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Hello, I'm wondering if the LP Pro875 rev.8 with 1/20 bios can pick up the G0 steppings on the latest Prescotts, and if it can use the 478 Extreme Edition chips. Thanks you.
snipper_cr Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I know they can use EE processors... What are the G0s... 3.4ghz?
Freedr Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I'm not really sure where I can get the G0/G1 steppings since not many places around still order them. Here are the Intel PDF that talks about the revisions: http://developer.intel.com/design/pcn/Proc...rs/D0105850.pdf http://developer.intel.com/design/pcn/Proc...rs/D0105350.pdf ADD: Btw, what stepping do you have on your 3.4E? snipper_cr Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Mine is an E0 which is pretty good because on certain asus and abit boards they have a few extra multipliers available.
Freedr Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 So snipper_cr, do you think its worth it to get a 3.4E E0 to overclock with? I looked at the specs of this SL7PP that's for sale and it does seem to run a little cooler. You think $250 new is a good price? snipper_cr Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Depends on the board - make sure you get one that allows multiplier changing without the processor being an ES - so basically an ABIT or ASUS board. The DFI Boards do NOT allow the multiplier on these processors to be changed, but mine has 14,15,16 and 17 available. Its a good processor. Ive had it up to 3.91 but other components started failing me. The goob said he got it up to 4.25 and thats my goal. It draws a LOT of power and generates a LOT of heat - make sure you have a GOOD power supply (one that does NOT split the 12+ v rails, one that has one big 12V rail) and good cooling.
