sixstringartist Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 I recently loaded the OS and all drivers on a new system build (sig). My problem is that for some games I play it works fine, but for Battlefield Vietnam, the program will freeze at some point in time during gameplay. Also, the 7800GTX should support OpenGL 2.0 and OpenGL 1.5 is required to play Riddick but I get an error saying I need a VGA that supports OpenGL 1.5 I downloaded and installed updated drivers but it didnt fix the problems. Any Ideas?
red930 Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Have you recently installed patches for your games from their websites? OpenGL 2.0 should be backwards compatible to OpenGL1.5 your video card is fine with the latest 84.21 nVIDIA drivers. How are your temps regarding your processor, video card? sixstringartist Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 CPU is nice and cool but I thought the GPU was a little high although in the temp options, the slowdown temp is hard set at 115C. After freezing, I can sometimes ctrl-alt-delete back to windows where the GPU temp is somewhere between 55-60C
WoWchamp Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Itll cool way off pretty quickly... but 115C is WAY too hot me thinks. That could be your issue.
sixstringartist Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 The GPU temp isnt 115, thats just what it is set to slow down at. I tried lowering it but it seems to be hardcoded. When the freezing occurs the temps are 55-
