Windows XP wont boot

Recommended Posts

reinstalled win xp but no progress. Something interesting though, i though the hard drive might be faulty so i ran the Seagate's diagnostic tool and it report the following:

Bad Connection, ATA-PCI, 1M

ST316xxxxxx - 5mtodxxx, ATA-PCI, 5M (the xxxx are the rest of my hdd serial #)

The 1M and 5M meaning First, Fifth primary channel the M is for Master drive

the ST316x is my hard drive but it plug into SATA port instead of ATA-PCI. Also it is plugged into SATA port 1 so i suppose it is the 1M with the bad connection. i changed to another SATA port and changed cable but still not working. Any help?
