GunnerMan Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Ok specs in sig I think. I try (in 704-2bt bios) Genie: 250 x4 16 16 8x 100 Mhz disable 1.450V 1.300v above VID 110% 1.30v 1.60v 2.7v Dram Cfg: 200 enable 2.5 4 8 3 11 15 2 3 2 3 3120 auto enabled auto 0 Level 7 Level 2 8 ns normal 6ns 256 disable 16x 4x disable This setup and beond can pass memtest for a few hours, even at 300 Mhz. When I try to boot into windows it reboots like it is totally unstable(reboot almost immediatley). It was starting wierd things like not being able to post at all, even at "Load Default Settings" Could my memory controller be so poor it can not do 250? I will do same settings only 225 x 9 this time to see if it will even boot. It seems this board is going down hill ever since I got it. Could be cus of me but I have not pushed this board anywhere near where I see some people puting it too. Any help would be great, Thanks a Million
Reinvented Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Update to the 704-2BTA bios. It has more of the stock settings that you will be needing. Also, what version of Rev. 2's are you using? v1.0 or no version at all is TCCD, and v1.1 is TCC5. Both clock the same, but it is vital to know which you use. GunnerMan Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Ok I have those settings but where I enter Level 7 I put Weak 4 because 7 did not exist. Thanks it got me into windows but it wont pass prime for more than 5 seconds. Im gonna memtest it for a few here and see if it pulls any errors. Reinvented Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Awesome. If it still is no-go, put DRAM Drive Strength to 5 or Weak 3, and DRAM Drive Level to Auto.
GunnerMan Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Ok I will try that, I put ram on divider so 238 x 11 = 2.6** Ghz CPU and 200 Mhz DDR speed and it still only passes Prime for about 5 seconds. I will try some ValueSelect in it tomorrow, will it work with this BIOS? Thanks
Crazy Drummer69 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Value ram and DFI don't generally mix very well but you can always go ahead and try. Some value ram works, a lot of cause problems.
GunnerMan Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Well I just want to see if its my ram causing the problem why I can not get an overclock. I used to be able to go to 2.8Ghz on a divider and now it will hardly boot windows on anything more than stock. I do have some old PC 2700 I guess I could try but its not working properly and only runs PC1800 cus something burned on it. Also I lowered the ram, cpu, ldt multis and raised the HTT to 275 to see if that would work. It did not, it would take 2-4 restarts of the system to even finish POST, I did not try to go into Windows. I tried upping the LDT and chipset voltage to no effect.
Reinvented Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Clear it, and try again. Also, get a fan blowing on the dimm's because it gets toasty. It's probably not helping that you live in NM where it's humid and sometimes pretty hot.
GunnerMan Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Ok I will clear the cmos and try. Its winter here and very cool. I have an XP-120 on my cpu with Delta Tri Blade high speed on it. The ram gets a lot of air from that. They are almost alwqays cool to the touch.
GunnerMan Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I tried clearing it with not results. My ram stays cool itas under the xp 120 with delta triblade high speed.
