squire Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...uct_Code=140535 OCZ version of Samsung UCCC for $230. OCZ customer support is 100x better. I would pay $13 more bucks for that.

I saw them today and then searched dfi-street with the part number and havent found any results yet? -W

My Ugly PC Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 BUDGET! Of course there's better. But this is the best value/performance 2x1gb kit I have seen. 2x1gb @ 250MHz for $217, no mail in rebates, no BS. Theres just as many people out there trying to make a budget work as there are insane overclockers. Just trying to spread the happy to those of us who must observe moderate spending from time to time.
QBridge Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Maybe the price went down because Samsung was convicted for price gougeing. All RAM is overpriced.Does anybody really think it takes them over $100 to make a stick of RAM? It probably only costs $100 or more to make 2 1GB sticks. $100+ is profit for OCZ and the pocket change is for Newegg. Sort of like an Ipod. The Ipod costs 110 to make and they sell them to consumers for 250. 100+ for Apple and the pocket change for who ever sells it. Squid1 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 All RAM is overpriced.Does anybody really think it takes them over $100 to make a stick of RAM? Not directly, but it costs them $100 times whatever they make in 4 years to build the factories than are then idleing 2 of the 4 years (which was the original problem the cartel wanted to solve). I didn't notice OCZ was putting out gigabyte sticks with the new heatspreaders. Nice RAM.

My Ugly PC Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Bumpo. I see alot of folks asking for the best 2x1gb kit. If value at all enters you criteria, this is great. Afew more ram MHz isn't worth the money thats better spent on a better vga or an Opteron before the s939 discontinue is on.
