It does not say unknown cpu @ bootup or bios, but if i set it to 13.5x149 thats 20115mhz! Over and close to 2ghz which is 2400+! I have 2100 ram and getting 3200 this wensday or even thursday, anyway how do i get my cpu to say another cpu like 1800+ do i need something x 166 or something x200 or somethign x133 to get the right name. Thanks guys

/edit: just tryed 333mhz memory and 166fsb and 12.5 mut. and it still stayed @ 1700+!

asus a7v8x. sticker

pc2100 ram

guess thats all you need.

Notice the circle how mines say "1700+ and the other says Amd thlon" IT seems like my cpu is locked to its name what the heck! My last 2 did the same, lucky me! Its not overclock now, but i do have a pic of it overclocked far.. http://photobucket.com/albums/0803/tehball...ds/789bc878.JPG for a big pic, click there.

well first off you gotta modify a 1700+ to go abve 13.5 . 12.5 will show 2000+ untill you reach a certain fsb them it will just show the actual mhz of the cpu 12 is 1900+

What do you mean? Use 12.5x133? Or what

nope

/edit nope.

Well if you go over a certain clock for example I have a AthlonXP 2400+ which I currently have clocked at 1.992Ghz and in Windows(and BIOS) it is recognized as a 2400+ cpu but if I overclocked it to 2.075Ghz then in windows(and BIOS) it would be recognized as a 2600+ :)

I had it O/Ced at 12.5*166

Currently at 12*166

ok all amd cpus that use a multi lower than 12.5 cannot go any higher on the multi unless you blow a few bridges to set a default multi of 13 . same goes for athlons with 13 or higher multis you cant go below 13 .

i ran my 1700+@11x200 for 2200mhz
