The x800gt blows the 6600GT out of the water in synthetic benchmarks such as 3dmark2005, but these play little into real world performance becuause it probably means the drivers are just optimized for such a test. For most games, the two cards are very closely matched.. differing by 1 or 2 FPS in benchmarks (with the 800gt usually on top). For some games however, such as Far Cry and Especially DOOM3, the 6600GT is far superior, topping the x800gt by up to 15FPS in some configurations.
