2nd pci-e slot

Hey, I've always been runing my 6800gt pci-e on the second slot, so that it was away from the cpu and not directly above the chipset fan. Today I installed rivatuner, and it told me that i was runing my card in 2x instead of 16x, is this true? Would i have to put it back to the first slot (the one near the cpu) or is there some kinda jumper?

I can't believe you even asked that question with as many times as the answer has been posted here. Move the jumpers into the SLI position and the 2nd slot becomes x8. No you won't lose any noticeable performance from x16.

Yes the second slot runs at 2x.

 

If you move the 6 black sli jumpers to pins 2-3 you can make the bottom slot run at 8x.

Only the top one will work at 16x.
