what games do you play? for business use you probably wont need to oc unless you are in the video and graphics industry. for 24-7 use, maybe a moderate oc. if you play or plan on playing future games, i would recomend getting 2 x 1gb kit that overclocks well like crucial ballistix. the ballistix will be future proof and you will have two slots open this is a good thing trust me. you will be bf2 ready this is a good thing also, try this game if you havnt yet. psu - best budget i would recommend fortron blue 500watt like 70-80$ online high end like an ocz power 520-600watt. video card - all depends what games you play but an ati x800 pro is 220$ at newegg right now and will work well for all games right now. now if u want to future proof and fly on all the games prolly the 7800 gtx by nvidia i think you can actually get 2 of those if you get sli board, i think they are sli ready? 2 will cost about a grand you did say in your post "dream system" right? lol! cpu cooler - xp-90c with a panaflo fan for 35$ or you could go with a water cooling for around 220$ make sure the power supply is 500watts plus period and 24 pin native. some would say to get the 3200+ for the 10 multi but either way you will be fine. be careful its addictive, i ended up buying all the nicer stuff eventually and my son was happy cuz he got upgraded. if i could do it over again i would have just bought nicer stuff and saved some money in the long run!

try lowering your v-core!! im stable at 2.5ghz with 1.41vcore

just got my ocz value vx stable at 3.4v 1.5-2-2-8 5/6 divider 1t 3000+venice at 2.4ghx on air, can go higher but want longevity... 10hrs prime 95 stable,runs prime and 3dmark01 same time for 2 hrs. im loving it.

no u type cmd in run in the start menu!! and its supposed to bring it up but doesnt for me

i am in the middle of slipstreaming my windows cd with service pack 2 and when i go to start > run then type cmd it asks what program do i want to use to open this.... i dont get it isnt it supposed to go to command prompt? please help so i can get this over with...thx

ok bought a venice 3000+ to replace my winnie 3000 and cpuz says its a newcastle core is this because of the bios i am using? (3-10 bios) also in memtest it says its a .013 and a 512fsb im all confused.

should i try using a divider or something and drop the multiplier to 8 will this help? drop the ldt multiplier to 3x maybe this will help? well ill mess with it this evening some more, any suggestions from u veteran overclockers would be greatly appreciated!!!!

ok so with new power supply 210fsb with timings 2-2-2-8 most everything auto other than that 1/1 ratio multiplier of 9, stock votage to vdimm and vcore. i hav no errors in memtest for 1 hr then loads window perfect runs 3dmark01 no prob running prime now! i could not do this before with without @ least 1 error with my last psu!!i am a power supply believer now... i might be playing bowling for mhz soon!!!!! is this a good sign with these timings? might there be hope for my winnie and value vx? stay tuned for tomorrows episode!!! wow this is addicting!!!

also after messing with the timings i think i messed up windows. every time windows boots it says it has recovered from a seriouse error but after that its fine do i need to reinstall everything or can it be fixed somehow? thx...

I have tried some of angry games settings and gotten close to stability @ 240 fsb, 2-2-2-10, vdimm 3.4, stock vcore. example settings: row cycle 11 row refresh 13 row to row 4 write rec. 3 write to read delay 2 read to write 1 refresh period 3120 write cas # latency auto or 1 dqs skew value 64 d-ram drive strength 1-2 max async lat. 7-8 idle cycle 32 dynamic enabled r/w queue bypass 4x bypass max 7x (i have also tried loosening the timings but it seemed to make it worse) i am using memtest in the bios with the 3.10 bios and 3dmark05 to test is this good enough i havnt had a chance to use prime 95 because alot of my settings get errors on memtest with oc can someone give me some advice its my first oc and did alot of research but still having trouble. do i have to run all the tests in memtest or are there a couple i should run to save time? i havnt tried to oc since i put in the new psu and had a thermaltake 430watt with like 18amps on the rail with the 20-24 pin adapter when i tried all these settings. i will be trying them again with new psu! could i have a amd64 winnie with lame memory controller or could my cheaper ram be the problem? how do i find the weak link? or is it just my bios settings? any help would be appreciated for a dfi oc noob!! but one that appreciated quality in things.... also if it is that i got a bad batch of the winnies should i get a venice? and sell my winnie? alot of questions i know i have read most of the posts and stickies and still having troubles.. ok heres the update i loaded optimised defaults and windows booted so i guess my timings of 2-2-2-10 were a little tight even at fsb of 200 and no errors on memtest for 1 pass with 3.4 volts to v dimm any recomendations? i read that u do the memory timings before u mess with the fsb is this true?

oh and angry how do u load sata and raid drivers without a floppy?

ok just to update i used winflash and flashed to the 3/10 bios and now i can adjust the memory voltage. now i have another question when i adjusted my memory settings in bios then saved memtest popped up and started scanning my memory, now my question is... did this happen because my os would not load or is it normal if its normal how do i get my os to boot because i hit escape and it boots to memtest again. or did i mess something up by flashing the bios wrong? i dont understand because with my old bios i dont even think i had memtest... thanks for all your help and i will make that bootable cd for flashing the bios... thanks for the detailed instructions...

ok i downloaded nero and when i try to burn image to disk it cant find thedfi biosrom i think because it is in rar format i need detailed instructions what to do do i unzip the rar or leave it and put it on the disc somehow can i use any other program to burn as i dont know nero at all and have never burned a image to disc sorry i know i am an idiot but i dont understand. please be patient with me i have easy cd creator basic will this work? do i even burn image or just make a data cd? i dont understand. thx for all your help i know it must be frustrating such a noob but i appreciate it.
