Ste Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 The PSU will be more than Enough. However I cannot agree with the parts choosen. a C2D Setup out preforms (With even a small overclock) many if not all setups for the same or less money. I think youd see better preformence By Gettings Say. e6400 (Or higher depending on how much the current choosen CPU costs) EVGA 122-CK-NF68 Mobo or a ASUS P5B E Board Course if your an AMD Fan boy then its fine. firky Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 i am an AMD Fan boy.. but there is that option... maybe it might save some money.... but ive had intel once and that put me off them for life well till now any way. the am2 5200+ costs
Ste Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Omg, yes go with a e6400 or E6800 Im sure many will agree. I dont think youll be dissapointed this time.
firky Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 ok the intel have uped there fsb to some where near 1000 mhz AMD have been runin that higher bus for quite some time does this have an effect on the over all performance Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) 4MB L2 Cache
Verran Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I don't know about Hiper as a brand, but 670W should do that rig just fine. Also, I agree that you should definately consider a Core2 instead of an AM2. You can get the E6600 Core2 for $9 more than your 5200+ and it will perform much better and definately overclock better. Also, the eVGA 680i motherboard should be about the same price as your AM2 board is. Everything else can probably stay the same. That's what I'd buy if it was me... EDIT### I guess the prices are different where you are. If the E6600 is that much cheaper for you, then that's even more reason to buy that instead of the AM2. firky Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 (edited) yeah its a lot cheaper but i will need help picking a mobo as im probly goin to be buyin from Here and they dont have the 680i .... my 7900s take up 2 slots each i also have to have room for my sound card and tv tuner so the layout of the dif mobo was good for me. also is the power supplie still good for intel?? Ste Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 CPU type will have no affect on the Power supply Choice. There are other good Overclocking Boards for a C2D. ASUS P5B E GIGABYTE GA-965G-DS3
firky Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 i like the look of the eVGA 680i motherboard. but still not enough room to use 2 pci slots with sli. the Asus P5B-E Plus is cheap but does not look as nice lol and im not sure if its true 16x sli
Verran Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 "true 16x sli" is a joke. It's a marketing scheme. Unless you have two HUGE cards (like 2x8800GTX), 16x SLI will provide no real benefit to you.
firky Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 o so ther is no real need for it then. i think im goin to go for the EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard but is
Verran Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Also, keep in mind that there's more to it than just megahertz. Just like AMD used to perform better than Intel even though Intel's clocks were a lot higher. I bet that E6600 will outperform the 5200+ at stock, and be MUCH better if you plan to overclock. Check out these benchmarks if you're curious. It doesn't have the 5200+ on there, but it's got the FX-62 @ 2.8Ghz. Just goes to show you that clock speed isn't everything.
