  1. Im running my NF4 on a 430 watt PSU rock stable @ 2620mhz. Whats with this forum and the recommended PSU's? Best? #1, #2, #3? OK.... thats a personal opinion and not a fact. The guys at Tomshardware, Anandtech, and Xbitlabs doesnt seem to think so. And whats up with the DO Not Buy the Enermax 620 PSU? Maybe the one you tested had a defect? My friend has the the Enermax 620 PSU powering his Lanparty NF4 and he doesnt have any problems. I mean who evers in charge here should really clean up the forum. It's really misleading. And kinda embarassing. I persoanally come here to see what other users have to say and to get help from the average user. Please Keep your personally opinion as is and dont put it up as a fact. I thought this was an official forum supported by DFI. And whats with mad russian? If he's a mod he should get banned from the forums, and if he works for DFI he should get fired. He flames people all the time, PMS maybe? ummm... Would expect better from college graduates but oh well I guess everyone isn't so fortunate.
  2. weird.. I just went to extreme outervision and did that PSU calculator thing and it said I need atleast a 483w PSU for my current system. Volta Im not having any problems whatsoever with my current setup, and the PSU gets a little warm when Im playing games. PSU calculator is bull crap as I have a 430w PSU and Extreme outervision is saying minimum 483w PSU. HA! Oh and my CPU idles at 27c and on full load around 37-40c. This is a decent temp for 1.45v no?
  3. ROK stable at 2620, vcore @ 1.45. I just got a fan controller and a new fan to go with the ninja as the original fan was spinning too slow. Next target frequency = 2.7ghz. I was initially running at 2.7ghz before I went down to 2.6, wasnt very stable. Im going to try and get it stable in the next few days with more voltage and see what happens. Cheers.
  4. Yes I appreciate your suggestions, my manual says a minimum of 400w I think. My PSU is running so cool you know, if I was stressing it it would be alot warmer. So I know I have enough power. PSU are overated in my opinion. Anyhow I o/ced my rig to 2.6 yesterday, memtest pass! I ran 3Dmark05 all the well through, I let my room for about 30 minutes came back and the benchmark was finished, so I click ok and bamm! reboot. so it was unstable. I was running it at 1.425v I may have to up the voltage a bit. I've noticed most people that have a 2.8ghz overclock has their vcore to like 1.5v is this safe? Do you guys know what the default voltage is on the X2 5000+?
  5. nah I just got this power supply for around 120 usd. I dont see any problems as far as power goes as of right now. Maybe when I go SLI but I doubt I ever will because the only game I play is BF2, and starcraft ocaasionally. Yeah its a rock solid power supply with plenty of amps to go around. People seem to emphasize on the power supply alot but I use to run this rig on a 330w power with no problems. I only recently got this power supply because it looks cool(modular). Anyways I tried lowering my cpu multi to 8, fsb to 350, and htt at 3, system wouldnt boot, corrupted my windows too, almost had to do a reinstall. Im gonna try it again see if I can reach it by upping the voltage. Let you guys know what happens. If I can get it stable at those speeds then Ill shoot for 3ghz. wish me luck!
  6. yeah that was the exact settings I tried last night. Couldnt boot into windows. I may have to give it some more juice. Perhaps 1.6v? well when I go home tonight Im going to try and go 2.8 and see if itll boot. Thanks for the help.
  7. woohoo! I got it to 2520ghz right now. Ran 3DMark05 and played BF2 for 2 hours. Rock solid so far. I tried booting at 2900 wouldnt boot to windows though. Ill try and tweak some settings and give it another go. My settings are as follows : FSB @ 280, HTT @ 4, CPU multi @ 9, Vcore 1.425, DDR @ 667 running at 420mhz. These are the only settings I changed along with the memory timing which is at cl5, 5, 5, 15, 21. Well back to BF2 for now. Im gonna try and o/c higher. Be back later with results.
  8. yeah thanks for the reply. Im going to give it a try tonight. Let you know the results later.
  9. My processor wont go past 2.14ghz. I've tried almost everything. I have my ram in slots 3/4 because of my scythe ninja being in the way. Does this effect my o/c negatively? Can any x2 3800+ let me know your exact settings so that I may give it a try on my system. It would be highly appreciated thanks in advance.
  10. Ok I got the scythe cooler a few days ago. Wouldnt fit on the gigabyte board and now Im back using the DFI Infinity. Is there anything I should know be overclocking on this mobo?
  11. Well from previously owning a Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 mobo, I went out and bought myself a DFI Infinity UltraII M2 mobo thinking I can achieve better speeds with the Dfi. Woah, was I wrong big time. The only difference between the two mobo's as far as overclocking options are concerned, is the memory options, the DFI has a bit more but I don't think most people will need most of the options thats provided by DFI. The Gibabyte is way more stable than the DFI from my experience, testing both of them. The quality, look and feel of the Infinity is ummm how can I say this, cheap? Yes mucho cheapo. I was shocked when I first looked at the GREEN mobo, not to mention the horrible generic user's manual(looks like it was just xeroxed and glued together), I can make a better user's manual with my deskjet printer. Sorry if I sound like I'm dissing DFI, but all I had with their mobo was instability problems, even when I wasnt overclocking. Can totally tell the difference in windows. Im back to using the Gigabyte mobo now, very stable, and responsive in windows, not like the DFI. The Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 is definitely the better buy overall. Thats my opinion after testing these two mobos.
  12. yeah I've tried that, Im sure of one thing though, as far as stability goes I think the gigabyte is top notch. Dont know whats wrong with my setup, I should be receiving the scythe ninja tomorrow, I'll try upping the voltage up some more and see if that helps.
  13. I've already read that thread. Wasn't sure if I should post here or there. I didnt want to double post.
  14. I recently went DFI from previously owning a Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 mobo. Their customer service so bad I couldnt stand it so I just switched. With the Gigabyte mobo I was able to reach 2420mhz stock stable at 1.375 vcore, but on my new DFI mobo I cant even reach 2.4 with vcore @ 1.375. What do you guys think the problem is? More Vcore? or other settings I'm not familiar with? These are my settings : FSB @ 240 / HTT @ 4 / CPU multi @ 10 / Mem divider @ 667 / vcore 1.375 Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
  15. Yeah Im looking to purchase the scythe ninja, current have a zalman 7700alcu for socket 939. Havent tried installing it on the am2 board, so dont really know if its compatible. Ive thought about getting the zalman 9500 am2 but read reviews on the ninja and saw how efficient of a cooler it is so yes Im going out to but the ninja in a few days. Does anyone have the ninja on the infinity board?
