Install SSD in Lenovo laptop?

I have an extra 120 gig ssd laying around. I am not concerned about the size limitation.

 

My concern is if I install the drive will the laptop not boot because of Lenovo's hardware blacklisting practice?

 

I have yet to find a bios hack 9I tried changing  the wifi adapter, PITA) that works so I am not willing to fork around with that nonsense.

How hard is it to get to the drive and test it out?

I'm at work right now & don't have the drive with me so not very easy.

Ahh! I would think it would work. My dad put a Kingston SSD now drive in his lenovo and 0 problems.

I put a crucial mx100 256 gig SSD in my Lenovo Y50 last year with little issues. I tried going the cloning route but wound up just going the fresh install when I found some errors.

I got a 2100 error after the second reboot. Now windows setup will not detect the drive. My googling suggests that this is a lenovo problem. No mention of the hardware blacklistinh BS though. Fourtinaly I can just put the old (freaking slow) HDD back in and just put up with the speed restrictions.
