Shurman292 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 There doesn't appear to be a way to get 5.1 surround sound out of the TV through the 2.5mm jacks. My suggestion would be to try connecting the speakers to your video source (Bluray player, receiver, or cable/satellite box) via phono-to-2.5mm converter cables. SpikeSoprano Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Thats the way I had to do it also as my tv did not have the proper audio out jacks, I ran seperate cables form the sat box and dvd player with convertor cables to the pc speaker jack, seems to work fine. Guest_Jim_* Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 There is an optical out on the back of the TV that can carry multichannel audio, but there is a catch. It will only put out multichannel audio from its digital tuner which can only work with the free over-the-air digital channels. DVD players, DVRs, consoles, etc. would only be coming out as stereo. It has something to do with copyright I believe, so someone could not have the TV strip out any DRM and then record it.
