  1. I recently built a new rig and updated my specs at the beta opt-in page. If only I could have two! I'd play it on whatever computer they wanted me to play it on haha. WANT.
  2. I recently built my new rig and was a little unsure how the TINY stock heatsink on my i5 750 would hold up. I was easily breaking 75c after a couple of minutes at 100% in prime95 and I didn't leave it running for very long because of this. I want to OC in the near future so if you guys and gals could suggest some different cooling options that would allow me to get close to 4ghz that would be great! I'm not looking to spend heaps but I'll spend what's needed. Thanks!
  3. alright I got it in. I missed the standoff right by the RAM. Thanks for the replies.
  4. I just noticed I missed a standoff on the mobo - doh - so maybe thats why it's bending. Will repost later to let you guys know. Thx
  5. ok here are a couple of pics. as you can see it's clearly not all the way in... should the motherboard bend at all when putting the sticks in? I could definitely push harder but I'm not sure if I should and
  6. I've got it lined up correctly, it just seems like no matter how hard I push it won't click in! It feels like if I push any harder the motherboard might break... it's already bending slightly when I push down? Push harder you say?
  7. Hi, I'm going to use the GeForce 8800GT from my current computer in my new build until I can afford new graphics card(s). Basically I just want to take it out and run it with onboard graphics for a while until I can put it back in. Should I: 1) uninstall driver 2) physically take the card out 3) change to onboard in the bios or should I change the bios before I take the card out? Have I missed anything? cheers
  8. Hi, I've read Crazy_Nate's guide to building a PC several times over. I ordered my parts last night so in a couple of days I'll be giving it a go! One thing I'm not 100% sure on, which seems to be pretty important (thanks for the advice paulktreg) is the use of anti static wrist bands. Following Crazy_Nate's guide, I am going to install the components on the motherboard before I put the motherboard into the case. All the advice I've found on these bands seem to suggest to connect it to the case... which would be pointless if I was installing the components before the case is in use? If someone could help me out with some suggestions or advice I would be most appreciative!
  9. ok, so it will work but only run at 1333mhz. think I'll just save some coin and get 1333mhz
  10. I was reading up on the i5 750 + CORSAIR CMD4GX3M2A1600C8 Dominator which I was planning on buying. I will be using Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5 as the mobo. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/di...-lga1156_2.html Anyway that page basically says to take advantage of 1600mhz I will need to overclock my CPU. Any idea how much? Should I buy the above RAM anyway or go for some 1333mhz? If I decided to get it, would the RAM frequencies default back to 1333mhz or would it just not work at all? thanks
  11. I'm getting: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5 Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Socket 1156 Box - will also do 4.0 with good cooling. Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 You should look through all the different P55 (if that's what you decide to go with) chipset boards and find which has the specifications you want. I mainly chose the above over the others 'cause it was the cheapest that has two network adapters and supports USB3.0. i7 is better if money isn't a problem. In this case there are also better motherboards, from what I've read. I don't know a whole lot myself but others on the forum have all vouched for the above hardware.
  12. Hi, The motherboard I want to get is the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD5. The specifications says it has 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets. Most of the RAM I've been looking at says it runs at 1.6/1.65v, such as: Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x2GB Will this still be ok? My friend said I can overclock my motherboard, but will I need to? I read the review posted by tacohunter52 and he said this ram (CL8, not 9) was ideally suited for thes P55 motherboards. I just want to be 100% sure. Thanks
