Hi Everyone, I have just bought a new case and psu, as per the title, but I am having a real difficult task to fit the psu. Basically as you all may well know the psu is a modular type, and when I line it up, insert it into the back of the case and slide in (stop laughing!), I cannot then connect my cables such as pci express or moles for example. There is not enough space for the cables to clip into the psu. Am I going mad or has anyone else had this problem with this case? I may have to send back now and get a normal psu that is not modular, a piss take really as I was looking forward to a nice cable free interior. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, emissary

Hi All, Given the spec in my sig, can anyone advise me as to what would be the best course of action regarding upgrading graphics cards? I have spent a fair whack on my setup and right now cant justify moving to a Conroe based setup due to the stupidly high prices and the fact that I would essentially have to change my entire system. I have 2 choices from what I can see, based on the fact that I am running an Abit Fatal1ty An8 sli board I cannot get an 8800 gpu as it requires higher spec pci express lanes, correct? This then leaves the option of going for either an Ati 512mb X1950XT or an Nvidia 512mb 7900GTX (if I can find one) OR get an additional 7900GT 256mb to complement the one I have already. What would be best? Bear in mind I play games such as Fear, GRAW, Quake 4, Oblivion etc. I want to make my system last as long as possible and right now I feel I have at least another year in it, 2 tops. Or am I fooling myself? A lot of reviews I have read are leaning towards an Ati x1950xt, would this give good performance on an nf4 sli mobo, a single card as opposed to 2x256 7900gt in sli? I also only utilise a max resolution of 1280x1024, so I would be looking for a card that can run at max aa settings etc. Thanks for any help, emissary.

Thanks guys, that has certainly made it a lot more clearer to me now. I am sure you lot understand when you see something that seems worthwhile but there is a constant voice in the back of your head telling you to STOP! I understand the layout of the Abit board is not so good, particularly with the ram modules being so close to the CPU and not in any real place where air flow can reach. I havent oced the 4400 yet as I understand that the toledo cores dont really go beyond 2.7GHz on the stock cooler. I am also wary about the memory which has to run at 2.75V on this board...so I guess IF I decide to do a mass upgrade, maybe the Conroe is the way to go......but as for current prices....ouch! Can anyone tell me if they have managed to get a worthwhile overclock with a 4400 on a Fatal1ty AN8 with Corsair 3200XMS yet. MY last oc experience was with Athlon Barton 2500 straight to 3200 by simply buying 3200 memory. Now it all hinges on the memory and mobo if I am not mistaken.

So if I cant source a dfi lanparty, I should really stick it out with the Fatal1ty? Or get the Asus? Remember, gaming and uber stability in mutiple applications use is my ultimate goal..... Why do u guys not rate this board? I have to admit, in my haste I purchased it last September 05, I didnt realise the dfi was such a well respected board, I purchased it based on the rather spiffing NF7S V2 which was good for NF2.

Raptors indeed.....maybe next pay cheque;) But as for motherboards, can any of you guys (or gals) recommend a fast stable gaming mobo. I looked at the DFi Lanparty Expert, but these are getting hard to find. I assume the DFi rulez? Does the Asus AN32 hold up well against the DFi?

Hi Verran, I just updated my sig, As to your question, I was looking at the Asus as it was quite cheap now and also has better PCi express lanes according to reviews.....but does this yield any major increase for the money?

Hi All, My current rig has an Abit A8N Fatal1ty SLi 939 mobo running 2gb Corsair 3200 (2:3:3:6) and an Athlon X2 4400. I was wondering if upgrading to an Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe will give a significant increase in gaming performance? Small question hope it generates some response.

I am not looking to over clock just yet, but may opt for the thermalright and a 92mm fan, the only reason i asked about the Aero 7+ is because I managed to get my hands on a brand new boxed one at work, and seeing as coolermaster dont seem to make em anymore I was wondering if it would be ok as a stock cooler. Hi all, Just a very quick question. I am in the process of upgrading to a Athlon 64 3200 Venice core and as such I would like to know if a Coolermaster Aero 7+ cooler would be a better option than the standard AMD cooler that comes in the retail package. I understand these were good enough for Barton 3200s but as this is my first experience with 64-bit cpus, I am unsure. Thanx for any help, Regards, emissary.

So much for democracy then. My knowledge of the US political system is sound. Where you see my ignorance and naivety, the rest of the world sees US arrogance. The middle east is an unruly environment you say? And I suppose you think that it is up to you to put them straight? What are these people to you sub-human? Well i guess you have answered my question on US arrogance. You are entitled to your opinion but as far as allowing you to build military bases on their soil goes, well I guess the war in the middle east is gonna be going on for a long time to come. Iraqis do not feel comfortable with US forces on their soil, who the hell told you that? CNN? The entire middle east is uncomfortable with the US right now, and that is too big a risk to take in the long term. I AM NOT ANTI AMERICAN! Why would I be when I have family and friends there, after all you dont bite the hand that feeds you. But I will exercise my God given right to free thinking, despite what the popular majority feels. I just feel that there are too many inconsistencies with this war on terrorism. And from that lst post there are some quite negative instances with regard to how you view people in the middle east.

By many peoples reasonings here, it is apparently 'OK' to simply invade a country based on the fact that they appear to have weapons of mass destruction. If this is the case, why doesnt the mighty US invade North Korea, or Pakistan, or India, or China....or dare I say it even mother Russia? My point is this, the US or the rest of the free world CANNOT invade a country under the premise that what they are doing is in the best interests of the people of said country. It doesnt work, it didnt with Vietnam, and it never will. It may appear to be the RIGHT thing to do but what the US has done is based on fear and uncertainty of 9/11. The main person behind 9/11 is still not caught, and until he isnt, the current government of the US needs to appease its people that something is being done on the war on terrorism, in this case Iraq. It is true to say that Saddam has used weapons on his own people and deserves to be in the situation he is in now, but ultimately, it is the people of that country that must make this change, not another countries foreign policy. It is far worse to humiliate a country by occupying it, and by occupy I mean that is what all the Iraqi people will start to feel the longer the US stays there. When a country such as the US, with its flagrant disregard for foreign policy, ie with drawing from Kyoto Agreement, makes policies that benefit itself first but indirectly influence other nations, then a deep seated hatred will set in. Dont get me wrong, this isnt something that happened a year or so ago, this is something that has been going on since the end of WW2. The fact of the matter is, there is a HUGE crap storm ahead of us all, I am only 26 years old, and am a GenXer, but even I know there is no real reason for the US to be in Iraq right now. I am not anti-US, far from it, have been there many times and have family over there, but their current government is crooked and in fact illegally elected. What the US needs to do now, is get the hell out of Iraq and let the people decide its future, cause it has no right to occupy it an longer. Peace (through superior firepower) B)

Ok. Good. Got in the configuration and have selected a stripping. Should I leave the stripe size at 16K which is automatically set? Or should I lower/increase it? Bear in mind that I am using 2X120GB Seagate Barracudas.

Hiya all, For some reason I am having a real problem doing this. Can anyone point me to step by step instructions on setting up raid 0 on winxp with an asus a7n8x dlx please. So far I have entered the raid setup after the post by pressing f4 and then specifying the drives as stripping. But when I boot from the winxp cd, it asks to push f6 if u want to install raid drivers. I do this but nothing seems to happen. Please help?????
