  1. Angry: would you mind testing the 5vsb jumper to see if the A02 fixes the problem with the board not booting? Thanks.
  2. Angry, did your replacement allow you to use the 5vsb+ jumpers on the board? My psu works fine until I set it to that jumper (I want to use WOL and such).
  3. That was suggested by someone else and I put some thought into it. It _should_ work BUT...if your psu is hooked to the mobo (in the off state) it is already pulling 5vsb+. If you then hook a cap to it, it may pull too much current (to charge the cap) and trip the psu like many people are having when they turn on their computers. Solution to this would be to install the cap when the computer is running (slightly dangerous, but there wouldn't be the load on the 5vsb+ line and it would be able to charge the cap). It's such an easy fix, and very plausible, that it is worth a shot.
  4. Well if the 5vsb rail is the main culprit in question, could someone try and power the 5vsb rail using a different PSU than Sveasoft's? As in, take the 5vsb wire out of the 24 pin on the Sveasoft, and replace it with a different PSU's 5vsb (you would also have to add one of the grounds from this additional psu to one of the grounds on the Sveasoft PSU). You wouldn't even need to 'trick' this extra psu to turn on because we are testing the 5vsb line (which is when the psu is NOT on) so just plugging the extra psu in the wall and then turning on the mobo should give us an answer. I'm not sure if this could even be done, but its an idea.
  5. I do agree that having an 'A' list is a good idea, HOWEVER... When such a thing is not posted on the outside of the box, how is one that does not visit this forum know that there are PSU's out there that do not work properly with this mobo? I can understand the wattage issue, but specific _good_ brands like Seasonic? I would have definitely bought (or thought about buying) a different psu had I known about compatibility problems with seasonic and this board. I know you guys (both DFI and Seasonic) are working on this issue and trying to solve it, but what does that mean for us people in this situation NOW? For me atleast, I can do nothing because it has been too long since I bought this PSU and I can no longer return it. I _could_ buy a new psu (with the money I dont have---poor college student), but this should not be a solution to the problem, especially when the problem was not caused by me! If Seasoft or DFI wants to buy me a new PSU for this problem, I'll gladly take it, but for some reason I seriously doubt that happening. Luckily my problem is relatively small. I can't use WOL and when I use WOK I have to press a key twice to start my computer. I feel sorry for the people that have spent countless hours trying to get their computer to boot the first time to find out in the end that it was a problem with their PSU choice. Patiently awating a solution to the problem --Richard
  6. Well phoey. Figures...I knew I should have asked about this a while ago. I built my system too long ago to return this psu, and I'm not going to buy a new psu just to get WOL to work. Hopefully DFI and Seasonic finds a fix for this.
  7. Ok, changed the settings in the bios and still no go. Here is what happens: When I change the upper 5vsb jumper (the one near the audio ports) and plug the PSU back into the wall there is a little yellow LED in the bottom left of the mobo that continuesly blinks. The power button does not respond. Placing the jumper back to regular 5v works fine. Changing the 5vsb near the usb headers results in it turning on, but not posting. The yellow led does not blink. Having them both 5vsb results in the first problem of not turning on with blinking yellow led. I'm thinking that maybe this is a problem with the mobo since my psu (as listed in the pdf) delivers 2A on the 5vsb rail, and the fact that it obviously is supplying that voltage otherwise wake on keyboard would not work at all for me.
  8. Ok just added a signature. Here is the spec sheet on my psu: http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/datasheet/01PC/S12.pdf I'll try disabling everything in the bios that uses 5vsb and see if I can use the jumper then.
  9. I'm probably the only one that actually uses these features on this board---or I should say try to. Wake on keyboard does work, but one has to press the keyboard twice to get it to boot up. When I press the keyboard once the system light flashes on but goes off (no fans spin up). When I press it again though the system boots up normally. WOL does a similar thing as to when I send it a magic packet (inside network so there is no routing issues) the light flashes once, but then does nothing else even after I send it another packet. I know my PSU is compatable because I used it with my last MOBO and it was able to do WOL. Also, another interesting note is when I switch the jumpers on the board to supply 5vsb to the usb the board will NOT boot. I have to leave it on the default 5v jumper. Is this a bug with my board or a bios issue? I'm not at home so I can't check but I believe I am using the lastest 6-28 release.
