  1. yea i know all that thanks very much. right now i only have water cooling which is good enough. my cpu is a clawhammer and i know it gets hot but there is no way i will buy a chiller for overclocking. my PSU is TT 680W and its more than capable of the task. i know for sure the cooling is decent since it gets to 44C highest at current settings. when i first tried 3ghz without increasing volts it got stuck in the DMI pool data. then i increased it a bit and went a bit further. i got to a point where it will show the windows logo but it wont load at all. this is what leads me to believe that the vcore setting is inaccurate and the BIOS reading is closer to the real volts. and also CPUZ reads always about 0.02 less volts than BIOS. what is going on? CPUZ and bios probe seem to agree slightly while the actualy BIOS setting is more than 0.1v off. how is that explained? if that is the case then right now i am only running 1.540v (1.520 for CPUZ) and not 1.575v that i have set the BIOS. if that is correct i can go safely a bit higher and get 3ghz. i have reached 1.67v according to BIOS probe (1.753v BIOS setting) but it wouldnt boot at 3ghz. i know 1.67v is on the red area but i hear others can do that to a clawhammer on air. it should be able to work on water.
  2. the memory has been tested thoroughly at 250 so its not causing the problem for sure. all i want to so is go from 250x11 to 250x12.
  3. i doesnt make much sense that i cannot even boot at 3ghz with 1.753v. that much voltage was used with dry ice to do 3.3ghz with a clawhammer. sorry for double post. i dont even know how it happened.
  4. i doesnt make much sense that i cannot even boot at 3ghz with 1.753v. that much voltage was used with dry ice to do 3.3ghz with a clawhammer.
  5. i know what you have done. you have installed the nvidia idea drivers. they do the same thing to my pc and after i got the x-fi they prevented boot completely. so i removed them and the system loads super fast.
  6. oh, another thing to note is that althoug bios currently reads 1.54v, CPUZ reads 1.52v and my actual setting is 1.575v. more confusion eh? unfortunately at 3ghz (250x12) with 1.753v i couldnt get it to load windows so we will never know what CPUZ will read at that setting but like i said above the bios would only read 1.67v right now i am afraid to push the vcore higher because i dont know if the probe or the BIOS is inaccurate. my current load temp (prime95+3dmark) is 44C which is decent i think
  7. Hi guys, i have the SLI-DR and a clawhammer 4000. i am doing 250x11 without problems and both ram and cpu are stable. i feed it 1.250x126%=1.575v but the mobo reads only 1.54v i made an attempt for 3ghz (i have water cooling) and pushed the vcore as high as 1.425x123%=1.753v but again the mobo was reading 1.67vcore. whats going on? is the mobo reading unreliable or is the bios setting innaccurate?
  8. you had a usb storage device on that you later unpluged while the system was off. or you plugged a usb storage device that was not there in the previous boot up.
  9. cheers guys. ive already tried installing all the updated drivers in different sequences and as soon as i do the win updates it wont boot. im sure its not the nforce4 sata controller because everything runs fine until i do the updates. right now the system is working with all the drivers from the cds for every device and no win updates. so basically i am running outdated software but it works. i cant say i have gone through the installations step by step to spot where the problem is but it seems more like a driver problem rather than the x-fi compatibility problem. basically what i want to know is if there is a compatibility issue between the x-fi platinum and the sli-dr. if thats not the case, the rest i can sort out myself
  10. yea i know but is the issue known to the sli-dr mobo or am i experiencing something else? is the 23/6 the latest bios?
  11. so, do you guys know if there is a new bios from dfi that is not listed in their site that fixed the compatibility issue?
  12. no, no, my ram is not failing memtest anymore i changed it. The system is rock solid. sorry for my outdated sig. now sig is up to date. so any ideas anyone?
  13. yes have tried that and it wont boot. it sits at the win xp loading screen forever doing nothing.
  14. Hi guys, I know this has nothing to do with the mobo but i was wondering if there is any news on the compatibility issues between the X-Fi and the NF4 mobos. My situatuion is a bit weird and it doesnt actually correspond with any known symptoms. To cut the story short, i did a fresh winxp sp2 install and installed the mobo drivers right from the cd. I then installed the video drivers right from the cd that came with the 7800gt. following that i installed the x-fi drivers again right from the cd that came with the card. the system is fine and i am having no symptoms at all but the weird thing is that after i run all the windows updates the system refuses to boot. it wont give me BSOD. it will just sit on the win xp loading screen forever. same thing will also happen if i try to installed the latest drivers for each component. so im now in the situation where i can have my pc to run on outdated drivers without any winxp updates. creative says dfi has a BIOS update for the issue but i dont see any bios apart from the 23/6/05 which is what i am using now. If you guys can share some information with me i will really appreciate it. my system is as follows. Athlon64 4000 not overclocked Lanparty SLI-DR 2GB G.Skill DDR500 @ 200 2x XFX 7800GT 256MB in SLI Creative X-Fi Platinum 250GB Maxtor HDD Thanks guys.
  15. its your dual core cpu. amd dual core has some issues with speed. many people have reported games and applications speeding up to high speeds and/or slowing down. perhaps the clock is affected too since when the pc is on it is controlled by windows. doesnt your clock automatically update from the internet to get the time?
