  1. your mailbox is full happy. tried to send you a pm
  2. where can I get a I/O shield for a dfi UT expert board? thanks
  3. yea see that is the stuff that Angry was recommending a few months ago. Just trying to see if that is what he is still saying now things change and such. but I am definatley gonna go right there if he does not respond or says that is still the sweet spot. Thanks man spot on that is the stuff just checking to see if the ANgry recomendataion has changed in the last few months
  4. Thanks mack I am saving that for when the DDR2 amd stuff comes out and your right. but I am looking for the 2 x 512 right now. I already have findished all those games anyway and am going to rebuild when the AMD comes ddr2, then it is def 2 x 1gigs but for now I am asking for a recomdendation on 2 lat 2 x 512 that can run 240. Angry was recommneding the OCZ gold 2-2-5 at one time and I am just checking back to see if that has been updated
  5. Thanks Mack. Funny. that stuff looks cool but I am looking tighter timings at 250-260 not looser at 280-290. Thanks though I appreciate
  6. 2x 512 and I know I can read these psot and make my head spin. I want the recomendation from angry He has done me right in the past and his is the opinion I want today. not yesterday. I know what he was recommending I am jsut curious what he is recommending now. Thanks though but the post says question for angry. Sorry I appreciate it.
  7. I see angry is not taking PM's too many people bugging him I guess. need a ram recomendation off him. I know you all have an opinion but his is the one I listen to. I know he was recomending the OCZ gold 2-2-5 a while ago but I want to know if that has changed and can you still get it> Please let me know for I want to purchase soon
  8. so should I keep it raid 0 for best perfromance then with 3 drives or raid 5?
  9. Can I run 3 WD raptors in raid 0 on my NF4 sli dr? I have seen people running 3 drives but can they be raided or is it only 2 drives for raid 0?
  10. can I change the settings in A64 tweaker in windows? does that work? will it save them to my bios then?
  11. what is the dram idle timer setting? I don't see it here in the bios timing suggestions. I don't have the DFI up right now but I will again tommorow and want to try it which header is it under? Ras CAs delay? saw another sig with 4708 tref using bh-5 gonna try that too. Tras at 2 What is idle timer called?
  12. ok first off now this stuff (the 4000vx) has been running at 250 2 2-3-8 1T 4x htt 11x mult. 1.6v cpu 3.45v ddr now for the last 3 hours stable no errors on the ABIT board. I did not really change anything I hadn't before they just started running. I think it may not be my cpu. I can't go anything over 250 on ABIT I tried 252 and got errors after about 10runs in memtest only 2 but still errors. Now 250 seems to be holding just fine. but why? I did not use any settings that I did not in previous testing. I could get close but never 250 now all of the suddne poof working memory. I really prefer the DFI board over the ABIT so I am gonna stick with it and I think there is something I can learn here too. My goal is to get the DFI board to run what the ABIT can and lose the ABIT board. SO please help me do that if you can. I just like that board for some reason and I won't give up on it. It has the bios I have always wanted to learn that is the biggie, the real bios not the watered down junk like most others. I want to learn this stuff, not just get my machine up to 250fsb and forget it. I want to understand this and use it in the future and DFI offer the only bios platform I can truly learn the thinkgs I want to and how they affect the machine and it's performance. Ok I have tried the J17 jumper. I have 2 fans on it and the ram running full blast 1/2" over the ram and the j17 area. if I try anything over 3.4v the machine acts like it is running but won't post or will just stop and not restart when I change the voltage. anything over 3.4. So I can't get it to run on 3.5v it won't post just either sits there and acts like it will psot and doesn't or just drops out and I have to move the jumper back and clear cmos and start over agian to get it to post. then shut down move the jumper and try again. over and over again I have done this trying to get it to run at 3.5 on this jumper and no dice. actually I can't get this board to post anything over 240 at all. even 3.2 won't run 220. board is stable as hell stock tight as can be. overclock it past 220 and all hel breaks loose. as far as the bank cycle time I have tried 7 like all the settings that I have seen recomended. tried 8 9 but no lower than 7. almost every clock post I see has it at 7 or 8 so why would 4 work? As far as the Tras I have run it at 7 and higher but never lower. I have to get the thing to boot at 250 first on that j17 jumper then I can worry about errors. I'll give the bank cycle and tras a shot never thought lowering them would help.
  13. ok now this is freaky. With really no changes on the abit board it will now run 250 2-3-8 1t at an 11 multiplier with 4x htt. running for 2.5 hours on memtest no errors. Now I really did not change anything that I haven't done already and it has to get 3.45 volts. Proc is at 1.5v but now running error free. Only problem for this forum is that it is on the abit board not the DFI. sorry but just trying to find a combo that works here. the dfi won't run anything even with the exact same settings as abit or the ones listed here or anywhere. What would cause memory to just start working all of the sudden? Gremlins? ALl of the sudden poof 250 at 2.0 2-3-8 4x htt 11x cpu 3.45v 1.5v cpu Why would it just decide to work now? I swear I really did nothing different than before on this 4000VX when I had in this machine earlier.
  14. So what are you thinking that is the CPU then? But what I do not understand is how the thing almost can do it on ABIT and is a mess on DFI. I mean it is really close to runing 2 2-3-8 at 250 on abit at 3.45v but won't even post at 240 on DFI with every setting under the sun and bios revisons galore. I seems like the controller can handle it I am at 1.5v cpu and 3.45 ddr voltage on this abit at pass 6 error free at 250 2 3-3-8 but it errors from time to time after a few runs. this is on bios 15 only thought for 16 I can only get 3.4v and It won't hold above 235. I just seems like the mushkin was a mess. THe OCZ is close on ABIT but not even in the ballpark on DFI and I can't use the 5v jumper anyway for that gets all squirly when I do. I guess after this next round of memory I am gonna look at the CPU. Maybe start over and get a 4000+ this time to get that 12 multiplier.
