I do have a spare HD and I also have a serial ATA drive I am seriously thinking bout getting another brand HD just to see what happens...I just havent tried putting on the sata drive becasue I dont want to lose all my files that are on that drive.... no particular reason why I chose ata over sata ... I wanted to see if it was my drive or my settings ..... it is just weird that it happened... i was running 240x 10.5 a few months back but then on one of the bios flashes I started losing the detection for my hd and the clicking sound started from my hd.... i immediately flashed back and it has been running pretty smoothly however I still would hear a clicking sound every once in a while... especially running warcraft 3 I would get moments where my comp stutters and then catches to where the game should be..... now i get the clicking sound with just windows installed I did read about the issue the LPB has with the western digis I downloaded the fix that was on the western digi website I forgot what it was called it was a while back when i did it.. thanks for the replies guys

Wow I havent been to these forums in a long time..... anyway..I am having big bissues with my LPB about two days ago I booted up my comp and got the imminent failure for my western digi 80 gb ... So i went ahead and purchased 200 gb western digi...ata 100, well everything is running smooth until I get into windows and start downloading windows updates and freezes while downloading however I heard a loud click right before the comp froze ...... well with that HD I tried again and this time it froze while installing windows again with a loud ckick right before freezing.... I returned the HD and got another one exactly the same and when I load windows I tried the advance power and drive instead of the uniprocessor driver for windows and again Windows froze when I was downloading updates.... I have tried flashing the bios to the official 6/19 which is when I tried to intall windows again but froze once updating ...... is there anyone else that has this problem.... I have tried everything... all this installations where doen at optimised bios settings no overclocking...... I used to have the Hellfire bios on it .... yesterday I switched it thinking it might be the bios but it still froze...... i have checked the power plugs and they are nice and snug I dont know what else to try ..... I have also changed the jumper settings on the HD to cs and single, master......

yeah i have tried other cables but did not help ... i am trying a samsung 40gb right now see how that goes ... btw the other hd that went this morning is now working :confused: by disconecting the power cable and plugging it back in ... ill try to see if it lasts though .

ok here it goes for the past few months i have been having hardrive problems with a 80 gb 8mb wd drive when it would first boot it would click but i could play gmaes and anything i wanted to do basically on my lpb at 230 with cpc enabled on 2x512 ch-5 and i could run this for say sometimes a few days sometimes a week but then my harddrive would click even when i was in windows so ithought for sure the hd was going bad Rma'd to wd and got another one that would not even pass smart...... grrrrrr well at the time i was using another 40gb hd also wd and after a few days it started doing the same thing i would get hardlocks ..eg sound would on on loop nasty sound by the way... not fun to listen through with headphones.....anyways ... got another hd from wd and this one was working fine but again after a few days i was plying warcraft 3 and i got a hardlock ...so i restarting bringing down my overclock.... and again it froze on me and hard locked now when i restarted the computer i noticed that my smart is on but when the post screen comes up it says the smart is not available :confused: now i dont know if it is the hd again :mad: or saomething else wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.. sorry for the long post ... also i have tried upping vcore, agp latency, stock speeds, vdimm voltage all them, upped the agp voltage, upped the chipset voltage, disabled everything that is not in use, danced a little bit, but nothing worked..... should i just purchase another manufacturers hd as i have read that sometimes the dfi had problems with wd ... sorry again for the long post very frustated ... formatting and reloading os is not very fun.. forgot to mention that i have tried all bioses stock 11/27 through all the modded bioses and they all do the same

no instabilities you would just be running in single channel instead of dual thats all you will be losing the performance boost of dual channel if you leave them at 1 and 2

i have an lpb and i have never had warm boots until i flashed to this bios i would get them after memtest stressing test 5 and after world of warcraft and restart.... would not post hang with hd light on... too bad it is a fast bios..
