PCI Express BIOS Qs

Recommended Posts

I figured I start a new thread for this one.

In the BIOS, PnP/PCI Configurations menu the Init Display First item has two options: PCI Slot and PCIEx.

What's the difference and which one should I choose?

In the Genie BIOS menu, it lists my PCI eXpress Configuration as X2 X1 X16 X1

I'm not sure what that means, aren't the slots (reading from processor down) X4 X16 X1 X16?

Or is the X16 slot the one where my video card is and the other X16 slot is throttled down to X2 when one card is plugged in?

In PnP/PCI Configurations menu you can set the Init Display First to PCIEx so that the system looks for a PCIEx display device first. When its set to PCI it will look for a PCI display card and then PCI-E. Setting it to PCIEx will just sorta decrease the time it takes to display/boot.
