DaGuv Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Can anyone offer any advise on getting past 4.41 on my 560J. I got 875P-T, OCZ Powerstream 600W, 1GB GeIL Platinum 4400 & DD w/c. Currently @ 4.41 @ 32c (idle)/42ish (load) Vcore : 1.6 (tried upto 1.750) Vdimm : 2.9 (tried upto 3.2) AGP/NB : 1.7 (tried upto 1.8) Timings : 3-4-4-8 Bios Version : 2005/03/25 As you can see i've tried upping all the voltages and loosening the timings but it just wont boot at and above 4.5 (250FSB). It either BSODs when windows is starting, or completly shuts down if it reaches windows login prompt. Many thanx people
nikhsub1 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 The logical explanation is that you have reached your CPU's limit... my 560J would only do 4.4 as well, no higher.
red930 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Hey bud, could you update your sig with your system information please? Here is the link that Angry_Games posted: Updating Signature Link Thanks! That in itself is a nice O/C at default multiplier. From other posts it seems that the 560J has a difficult time breaking the 4.5Ghz barrier unless you are using exotic cooling. As with any combination of hardware, your mileage may vary to what you can achieve. Do you have the NB passively or actively cooled? That could be the achilles heal that is keeping you from going any higher.
ed.howell Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 The logical explanation is that you have reached your CPU's limit... my 560J would only do 4.4 as well, no higher. The 560J that I had would also do no more than 4.4 stable on water. What kind of cooling do you have DaGuv?
DaGuv Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Sorry I've added signature now. I have DD w/c cooling (Triple Rad) on just my CPU. Yes, the NB is just passively cooled. And I have sinked my FETs because they were insanly hot. Do you thinks putting the NB on water would help? Thanx again peeps
red930 Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Check the NB HS under a load condition and see how hot it gets. If you can't leave your finger on it then it is too hot and needs to be cooled either under water or HSF.

I have just purchased a 40 to 80mm fan adapter, So i will slap one of my YS-Techs on there when it arrives. If that don't help, I don't know what will. Cheers for the help. xCRF450 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 can i ask why that the fan is on the bottom of the case? i cant see there being much circulation down there, but hey i am still new, i am jw, your temps are good so hey.
fordf250 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I think that is his rad under the fans.My 560J didnt even make it to 4.4G, only 4.25 but my 640 made it to 4.38G
DaGuv Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I think that is his rad under the fans.My 560J didnt even make it to 4.4G, only 4.25 but my 640 made it to 4.38G Yeah, that is my radiator under the 3x120mm YS-Techs. Its just frustrating sometimes, because I know people with the same CPU as me @ 4.6+ on a lesser spec'd W/C system.
MikeyLikesItSI Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Passively cooled northbridge is definitly a week spot on this board. Especially with a water cooling setup. When cpu is air cooled, the air from the CPU cooler blows over the NB as well. But once you take that air supply away, you'll need to either put a better heatsink with fan on it, or adapt a fan as you are going to try to do. A NB waterblock is really difficult to keep it stabilized, but through the use of some thin neoprene, that is achievable as well. just my .
DaGuv Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I had a 80mm fan with an 80mm to 40mm adapter on it. But it made no difference so i took it off. I have a crossflow fan on my stacker that blows an insane amount of cold air over the whole m/b
