hard dive? nah.. Its windows! :)

I would ch disk drives for error. Do you use NTFS? Do it! Yu may also use partition Magic 7, to check and convert drives, worked perfekt for me.

 

You have to make a lot of optimization in XP but than it will become really fast and stable. I use the Pro / corporate edition, upgraded from Win2K. Don't forget to turn of the power saving alternatives, this will sometimes couse a lot of problems. Like 100% CPU usage in my case ...

Did anyone think that he just might not have enough system resources?

 

How much RAM are you running? Once in a while I get error messeges like that, and I running a P2 400 @ 448, so its around the same speed. However, I have 768 MBs of RAM, which makes up for it sometimes.

 

Just my two cents.... :P
