jws2346 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Curiosity: Is there any advantage to folding on a AMD Athlon64 in a 64 bit Linux flavor ?
gotdamojo06 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 i dont know, thats a good question. it would seem like for your 24/7 folding machine it would work smoother due to the fact that there isnt as much resources needed to run linux than windows needs
sdy284 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 well between the 3 clients i believe it was shown that windows actually was the fastest out of the 3 (Windows, Linux (not sure what distro), & OS X (could've been OS 9)) But im' not sure if it was a 64 bit version of Linux... DECwakeboarder Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Considering that, AFAIK, there is no 64bit F@H client, then running on a 64bit OS would show no gain. However, it would be better to install the 64bit version, as other apps may be able to take advantage of it.

I think, no more folding than I've done, that my machines do fold faster in WinXP. Oh yeah, thanks for the quick responses.
