bigred Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 that's somewhat correct KB. it's more like they can do it because x86-64 is an extension onto the 32bit instruction set of x86 (aka IA32). this is the same reason IA64 / Epic / Itanium failed so badly. it was unable to address any 32 bit instruction set without software translating... making taht $5000 cpu about as fast as a 300mhz celeron in the long run Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
